Hellfest 2022
With all of the discussion about "Road" I think the Video of "Hellfest" has been overlooked. I took my time getting to the DVD. Wanted to hear "Road" a few times. I saw this tour a month or 2 before in MD. Glad to have seen a full set!
Well shot & some great tight shots of all members. ***1/2

Re: Hellfest 2022
its a great show, my only complaint is that (as with many live dvds etc.) they dont like to focus on the musicians on guitar solos. I mean Roses on white lace, nita was ripping that solo and we only saw 40% of it.
But yeah great gig. great setlist, alice is in great form.
One of the standout parts is the harmonica/alice + guitar/tommy,tommy,tommy section. tommy was loving it and it was great to see.
Go man go also rips harder live than studio. a top tier gig thats for sure.

Shame that it's not the full set. Which is my complaint about that disc.Daggers & Contracts wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2023 12:59 amWith all of the discussion about "Road" I think the Video of "Hellfest" has been overlooked. Brilliant blu ray, every second of
Cons; festival set, “festival” camera coverage (many angels, not necessarily capturing the most important action
Give us another one quickly please full set, and better directed

Re: Hellfest 2022
Strong points. I thought also that it needed better/more planning. I imagine it was live switched, and it's loud out there. If none of the cameras had anything good, they'd bounce to a crowd shot. (They bounced to crowd shots alot.) Plus, why do do they shoot the band from crowd level all the time? They should have brought the camera cranes closer.alicefannor wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2023 9:02 pmBrilliant blu ray, every second of

That being said, they captured the rainy aspect pretty well, and the band was GREAT. Every single one of them performed marvelously. I'm very glad to have it.

Move aside, mere drop of water - let the ocean pass.
Re: Hellfest 2022
Another strong point. Were there elevated seats? I thought the crowd was all below the stage.

Re: Hellfest 2022
Exactly, so if you raised the cameras any higher those near them wouldn't be able to see what was happening on the stage.
Hellfest is a festival. Apart from maybe a disabled area on a scaffold further back everyone is on ground level looking up at a high stage.

Re: Hellfest 2022
It wasn't all live-switched, because this version on Blu-ray differs quite a bit from the version that aired live that day (which is still on YouTube). Different camera angles, different closeups, etc.
Re: Hellfest 2022
They should have focused on Nita the whole show. after all she brings all the energy. Who wants to see an elderly man singing anyways.
Re: Hellfest 2022
I think Alice should rework Leather Boots into Leather Pants:
Leather pants roaming the stage
The fans love her
She's all the rage
I'm an old man now
Nobody cares
They all go wild
When she flips her hair...

Re: Hellfest 2022
Haven’t seen the show yet, couldn’t afford any of the releases yet. But this band is awesome and every year they get even better. Just to have Roses live is enough for me.
as for Nita… She’s a great musician, plays greatly and frankly, she has a great stage presence. Does she really differ on that from any other of the great musicians Alice had? Eric Singers Solos with fire sticks didn’t get as much attention? Al Pitrelli’s Solos and stage presence wasn’t like hers? Even Ryans style on his early years?
I’m not one of those femminists guys at all, but hey, I do think she is heated for being a woman.

Tight in the seat
Keep the crowd rockin'
Up on its feet
Guillotine
Now nobody cares
It's all Leather pants and
Flipping the hair

Nita is not hated at all. It's just a couple of old grumpy grand dads seeking attention. Pay no mind to them. The rest of the world loves her.Marcelocooper wrote: ↑Fri Oct 27, 2023 4:19 pmI’m not one of those femminists guys at all, but hey, I do think she is heated for being a woman.

I agree, just think that those who do hate her, hate her because she’s a woman. Really can’t see any other reason why.
People want the band to return, because “Alice is not a person, is a group”, and at the same time complain someone other then he is on the spotlight for a brief moment on the show…

Another grandpa here, although not as grumpy. (Well, maybe sometimes.) It has always irked me that these keyboard warriors are very loud when they’re protected by anonymity. My approach has only ever been, “don’t type anything that you wouldn’t say to their face.” Comedians who laugh at their own wit are boring AF.

Provide me a vip meet and greet and I'll say it to her face. I know a few Alice world people who would like to have a few words with her too.Dannorama wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 3:48 pmAnother grandpa here, although not as grumpy. (Well, maybe sometimes.)
