How would you recreate the Paranormal Cover Art?
There's been so much talk about how bad the Paranormal cover art is, so how would everyone here re-create it? I personally don't mind it, I like the fact that it pops out at you and it has a classic "Rock n Roll" album vibe. It's also not a scary album, so I think it works. I'm also in the minority with RYFAY, as I like how that one pops too.
But I do agree that TLT was his last album that had great cover art.
It had this mystery to it that was backed up by a really good album.
If the album was scarier, I would have loved to have seen this kind of concept art with Alice's makeup dripping down.

Something less image-driven that would appeal to casual fans or just fans of classic rock. The emphasis on the over-the-top cheesy Alice image leads to the erroneous belief that the music can't be that good. Which is unfortunate, the wrong message with all the work that went into the making of the album.
Note that Trash was a platinum album due in part to Alice NOT wearing eye makeup and thereby broadening his appeal.
I don't like ACAS but it has a cool cover. Alice looks more mysterious less cheesy.
There is a promo photo of Alice peering from behind a 5-pronged "something" he's holding up to his face. Even that would have been much better.
In any event there are great graphic artists all across the country that could have come up with something better.

i'm sure there's evidence somewhere to prove that theorem.darkmenace wrote: Note that Trash was a platinum album due in part to Alice NOT wearing eye makeup and thereby broadening his appeal.

Re: How would you recreate the Paranormal Cover Art?
Dada got a special cover, but still no succes..
Zipper had no Alice at all (on the front)
L&W had an unrecognisable Alice...
this Paranormal cover has at least the advantage of cleary showing it's an AC record, and it is used in the video of the title track
Surely people must have thought about it ?
the contrast with the white background makes it easy to be found in the cd shelf

I enjoyed your recreation.
Re: How would you recreate the Paranormal Cover Art?
The cover is ok for me, and I imagine Alice (his team) will have briefed a graphic designer/design team to come up with this. My first impression was that the cover seems to relate more to schizophrenia than the paranormal or say paranoid personality. But perhaps that is me being picky. I am just pleased with the content. I would have liked a serious Alice pose with one head lol-maybe a more serious/dark version of the Trash cover.

My first thought was it's a bit naff but seeing it in the shops I've mellowed my view on it. Would still have preferred something with a bit more depth to it.

I think the front cover is shite.
We've had too many album covers with Alice on it for many years.
I do like the artwork inside, with the melted and burnt glove, though.
I don't think the cover makes much difference in sales numbers these days, but it would be nice to have simething cool and different, like Dada or most of the original ACG covers.

I don't think anyone has mentioned that the cover works nicely as a thumbnail, as seen on Spotify, iTunes, etc. It stands out.

While I don't really mind it (for the above mentioned reason), I, when creating a cover for my single disc copy used the "Magic" graphic artists (don't remember the Co.) recreation of their photo shoot & it looks great! I had to stretch it a tick!SickThings wrote:I don't think anyone has mentioned that the cover works nicely as a thumbnail, as seen on Spotify, iTunes, etc. It stands out.

Re: How would you recreate the Paranormal Cover Art?
Just mention that with my CD, I found that the booklet was held very tightly in the front pocket. Although I took it out carefully, I still managed to rip the crease in the front cover at the top. Since then, in taking it in and out, I have a tear on the bottom part of the crease. I have sellotaped both parts which is okay, but I cannot recall this happening with any other CD I have owned. Only a minor nuisance/observation. I like the inside of the pack and the booklet.

Mine, the only issue I have is that when removing either disc the booklet slides out every time. Minor issue, problem solved!

Re: How would you recreate the Paranormal Cover Art?
There are a million ideas that would have been better than the cover which really looked like it was taken in Sears.
An EC comic book cover could have worked. I really like the original wonky tv set from the promo videos. That could have been incorporated. The cover certainly didn't need Alice on it. A pic of Alice in two halves one normal and the other half dressed a GAG. Tons of stuff really.

We should have swapped covers as my one is way too tight for the booklet- lolDaggers & Contracts wrote:Mine, the only issue I have is that when removing either disc the booklet slides out every time. Minor issue, problem solved!

I bought my daughter the vinyl for her birthday! What a dad! I really wished I had got that instead of the boxset. I was really hoping she didn't want it. Ah well, maybe if I'm a good boy!
