Got back from the show. SPOILERS ABOUND, so read with care.
OK, I would first like to say, it was nice meeting fellow members Matt C. and Remarkably Insincere and his posse. What I have found of the true diehards, they tend to be cool people and usually very intelligent. That being said, I will give a rundown of what I saw tonight [and last night]. It was the same show as the dress rehearsal minus the mistakes that were charming but probably did not make Alice too happy.
OK so the important basic stuff. The band was rock solid. Alice's voice has stood the test of time. He sings as well as ever. It is a rock show. The show is fast paced, I think and is heavy on theatrics. So the thing that Alice told me on Monday was "that they're going to kill me five times. It's going to be amazing." Callico was all over the stage. She looks amazing and moves quite well, as always. I don't want to say how they kill him, though when you see the silk screen curtain before the show, it pretty much tells you what is going to happen. I went to the dress rehearsal with my wife. She is a casual fan, and the show is certainly catered to please the casual fan that should know most of the songs from classic FM radio when they used to play more than one song from an album.
OK - please forgive me if i screw up somewhere down the line from here on out. The show is very guitar heavy. With Eric Singer out, the drums are not featured as much. Chuck obviously has continued to work out. He is playing a Precision Bass and is still cut like crazy. Keri came out with a Les Paul and Damon began with a Gibson SG. Keri plays the acoustic bits when needed.
The songs. If i mess up on a title, please show mercy. My wife has the ipod and i was taking notes in the dark while watching. I am pretty sure i messed up at least once.
School's out - not all of it.

Ok, the band sounded great. The sound was great. I thought the sound guys missed solo cues during the rehearsal but they were virtually perfect tonight. Alice was on, the show was great. Now my "buts." I know that the show was designed for the casual rock fan [my wife] but I really like his recent albums. From ACAS, Dirty Diamonds, Eyes of Alice Cooper, Dragontown, Brutal Planet we have a grand total of three songs. I love the Special Forces, Dada, Flush the Fashion albums which I know aren't going to appear. So that makes a grand total of four songs written after 1980 when you add Poison.
The real "buzz kill." So the show is great and you're really into it, then comes the "encore." It's School's Out AGAIN. Yes, I know they didn't finish it with the balloons the first time through, but my wife turns to me and was like "didn't they already play that." That was last night. So tonight, i watched the crowd reaction, it was a collective "didn't they already play that?" The crowd was into it, but that was the entire encore. It's like you have a wonderful piece of chocolate cake. You savor every bite, but you save the last bite for last and it has a lot of frosting. Just as you are about to eat the last bite, someone walks by and eats it. It was a wonderful show with a disappointing ending. Alice does not have to play but i think he genuinely loves it. He is a national treasure that we should never take for granted. . We need him to show our kids "this is what a rock show is supposed to be like." Once they see it, they get it. He delivered the goods tonight.

Genitorturers huh? Wow I haven't heard that name in years. I followed the tour they did with Gwar here in the states back in the early '90s.not sure. tiffany was/is the genitorturers
Anyway I'm on my way to Columbus. Enjoy your day STUK!

Wait, Calico isn't in the show at all? I'm so confused.mattcoddington wrote:that wasn't calico! it was a girl named tiffany.
If you call that guilty...then that's what I am

I gotta say that i'm one of alices biggest fans of my age and i love every album he's brought out but im so dissapointed with this set list, i mean it's not overly different from pscyo drama and the show is meant to be be focusing more on along came a spider right so why is there only one song from the album? i mean i thought he'd play really old songs he hasn't done for ages that relate to the story like luney tune from schools out or pain from flush the fashion, don't get me wrong im thilled he's doing more theatrics and that and i have no doubt the show will be amazing, i just wish there was a more different setlist for like the die hard fans or fans from the new album.

In a word, no. It's the Theatre of Death tour, not the Along Came A Spider tour.

And Matt has said that there will likely be song surprises as the tour progresses. Who knows, Luney Tune might be one of them. We know that it was rehearsed, so it'd be an easy one to put in later!

That's one of the biggest downsides of seeing the tour so early on. It is surely going to be refined over time - some songs dropped, others added. Maybe they'll come up with a better ending too.

I mean no disrespect, but there is no possible better ending to an Alice Cooper show than "Schools Out" partytime.
I'll give you "Elected" in an election year, but otherwise
it's gotta be "Schools Out".
I don't think it works so well as a BEGINING, however...

Yep. I saw it in Columbus.
I understand the intention (at least I think I do but for me having School's Out at the begining is jarring since I associate it so thoroughly with the ending.

Spoke to a friend last night. She didn't think "School's Out" worked as an opening either. In fact she mentioned that for some in the audience it comes off that Alice forgets that he already played it and they accidentally play it again!
