Tour highlights

Hi Dennis,

I wonder, touring extensively around the world - there must be many highlights of taking the stage, playing to a packed audience, performing one of the greatest rock shows.

But how about in between the stage shows on-tour ? Were there particular moments in the 'routine' that you look back on fondly? A good night rest in a hotel room and waking up with a full day ahead with no show to do perhaps? or the post-show party with the band? I just wonder about what the cool moments were between the stageshows on tour...

Snakes! Guillotines! Electric Chairs!:My Adventures In The Alice Cooper Group is a good glimpse into that. Obviously, the 90 minute shows were the reason for touring. And there were social parties and intimate moments, but most of he traveling time was challenging. It could also be boring, but thankfully, we had lots of humor to carry us through.

A good night's sleep was a rare and treasured event that often got sidetracked by writing new songs or hanging out with our girlfriends. I say, if you can't play rock when you're exhausted, you're in the wrong business.

When you play in towns several times over, you get to know people and look forward to seeing them. And you get to know the musicians in other touring bands.

Once, the band stopped to pick up supplies at a Woolworth's department store in any-town-USA. We walked out into the hot parking lot and saw a large poster of us in the window plugging the Easy Action album. It was the first time we saw the poster. One kid was looking up at the poster so Glen, Neal, Michael, Alice, and I lined up in the order that we appeared in the poster, and we side-stepped between the kid and the poster.
The kid did a double-take and pleaded with us to wait while he went into the store to get his friend. He said his friend would never believe it unless he saw us.
We left.

Really? Well, the mystery of half a century is finally solved. What town was it and how did your undeservedly duped friend react at the time?

He had tears in his eyes when I told him he's a filthy liar. Never talked to him again. :rotfl: :rotfl: No. It was just a joke. But wouldn't it be awesome if that friend read this. Or the original guy and he could finally show it to his friend, and tell him, I told you so, after half a century of being disbelieved. ;)

And at that time, it's quite possible that his friend said, so what.
