i have seen alice live every year since 1997 so i have seen a fair few line ups and iterations myself. Spinning sticks in your hand is not really an indication of skill or showmanship. It is just a personal preference I like drummers with style (some of my favorite drummers include Stet Howland, Daniel Loble, Eric Carr etc.) glen is just very by the books and generic. When was the last time you saw AC & Co. "Live"?
At a show show Glen's stick work is incredible!
Kane Roberts He’s Back great news!

Sure, he isn't Bonzo or Keith Moon but, he play's & accentuates the beats in his own unique fashion.Saint&Sinner wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 6:24 pmi have seen alice live every year since 1997 so i have seen a fair few line ups and iterations myself. He doesn't just spin the sticks!
I saw AC w/ Eric Carr also & just thought he was OK. Also w/Kiss-OK
He kept time. Why did you skip the part about Voted " Best Drummer"?
Drummer's know drummer's, Bassists know bassists, Vocalists & Guitarists votes are more Fan driven.

Do you mean Eric Singer? Carr never played with Alice.

I think D&C makes a fine point. Personally, I’ll never know what it is to just listen to music, because I play instruments. That’s how come it’s surprising to me that someone is slacking on Glen Sobel, of all people. He is a drummer’s drummer. Fast, strong, colorful, and most of all, precise. Throw in a truckload of talent, and you get Glen. Anyway, I thought this thread was about Kane….?

I am a drummer primarily but also a guitarist and bassist (although im not a great bassist) i like what i like. so i do fully appreciate "drummers drummers" its all personal preference, i feel glen just disappears into the background, i could never pick him out of any other drummers.
Btw it is a kane thread and as mentioned, kane is awesome a brilliantly skilled and very identifiable guitarist with great flair and style not to mention ALL the muscles
