Thoughts on Charlie watts
Hi Dennis
With the sad news that Charlie watts has passed on, was just wondering if you guys ever met Charlie and the rest of the stones?

Charlie came to our show at the Pierre Cardin Theater in Paris. During
our set, I would see him watching from the wings. He had a bandage on
his nose and when Neal and I asked him what had happened, he said, "I
ran into a door."
He was iconic, classy, and stoic. Everybody loves Charlie.
In America, as exciting as music was in the 50's and early 60's, when the Beatles and the Rolling Stones hit, it was as if someone had flicked a switch and everything went from black and white to technicolor.

Thanks for those spot on comments Dennis. Alice has a nice tribute on his page as well I see.

Yes it appears Steve Jordan is the replacement at least on this tour. It will be interesting to see if the stones make him permanent now. Mixed feelings there personally.
Re: Thoughts on Charlie watts
Understandable, but remember Charlie had already pulled out of this tour so he was never going to be there.
I very much doubt if Jordan will ever be an official member of the Stones. Wyman's replacement isn't after all.
Some people have been quick to condemn the Stones for replacing Charlie so "quickly" but that had already been the case before his death.
You have to remember how much money is involved in a Stones tour. Once the wheels start rolling it is hard to stop them without HUGE financial loss for all involved.
I would think the band will take the stage with huge misgivings, but I doubt Charlie would want them to stop under the circumstances... he already wasn't going to be there even if he was still alive.
And of course the whole thing may still be called off due to Covid anyway (I'm not sure when the tour starts) as so many others are.

As long as people keep complaining online but keep going to the concert, tours are gonna keep going. Business as usual.Si wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 7:07 amUnderstandable, but remember Charlie had already pulled out of this tour so he was never going to be there.

These good little shocks must be working I’m so happy now

Was looking through Michael's book last night and there is a pic of Neal and Charlie.

Charlie was 80 years old. Many of the parents of musicians I admire were born before him and have outlived him to this day. Many Stones fans' lives were begun and completed between his birth and passing. It blows my mind.
