Re: Paranormal Cover
Obviously we won't know until we hear the album, but I thought the two heads with different expressions might reflect two different sounds. Alice has said that the album is varied.
As for whether I like it, yes, I think I do. I like the splatter logo which, for me, still has that RYFAY - era connotation married with the very modern, clean looking Paranormal title.
It's not amazing, but I think that something 'ghostly' would come across cheesy - that's the problem with Alice's 'character' - push anything like that too far and it crosses a line.
I also think that the reason we keep seeing Alice on the cover snarling is because that's how the public know him. It is the quintessential Alice image to most people - the scary, snarly guy in the makeup - so that makes sense to me.
Sorry for the rather unfocused comment - just a few thoughts :-)

Re: Paranormal Cover
Can anybody on here really say with certainty that Muscle of Love, Lace & Whiskey, Special Forces, ACAS and Easy Action have better artwork?
I think it's modern. Stands out. I've always loved the drip logo too. I don't see why this wouldn't have shelf appeal to old and new fans, and this is coming from a musician who releases music.
But not EVERYONE is gonna agree on things like this. The most important thing is the music inside...which we have to wait on.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Re: Paranormal Cover
Is it a "pair of normal" Alices?
Re: Paranormal Cover
Hello to all!
As a graphic designer, I think that the last great LP cover was "The Last Temptation". Everything there were perfect and the total artwork was combined really good with the music inside. Too bad that last Alice's works have pour artwork. Alice is great source of creativity and it seems strange why they end in the usual image in covers (Alice in various views).
There was another cover that featured 2 Alices....

He could have had a fan coer competition and got better results.
Re: Paranormal Cover
Imo, the new cover is awful.
It's a shame Drew Struzan has retired. And where are Pacific Eye And Ear when you need them?

One of the guys behind PE&E did W2MN which everyone hated. Well, we hated the photo part of it anyway. The rest of it was fine.Paulimo wrote:Imo, the new cover is awful.

Re: Paranormal Cover
The inner artwork was great. The whole "Growl I'm Scary with my oversized hat" Alice thing was horrible. Unfortunately, Alice has not been blessed by alot of great album art work in the last 15 years other than that.
Re: Paranormal Cover
When it comes down to brass tacks, there is a very small group of people who give final approval of the cover. This must be what they wanted. To that end, I say "fine." I agree with Berry. The last time that we had a fully realized piece of art on the cover was in 1994. We are about to end the longest dry spell between studio albums in Alice's career (minus HV.) Let's hope that this album, after six years, is worth the wait.
Move aside, mere drop of water - let the ocean pass.
Re: Paranormal Cover
In the band days they made great covers but nowadays covers don't matter anymore.
I wait for the music.
I wait for the music.

Re: Paranormal Cover
Don't really care about the dual-head thing. What I'm more drawn to is the charring-graphics around the body. Looks like a burnt torso or something. The white background enhances that effect. I don't even see the heads now when I look at the cover. Well played.
If I may put forward a slice of personal colostomy...

Re: Paranormal Cover
My issue is that money was more than likely spent on artwork, and it is an inferior, cheap looking design that would not take hardly anytime to throw together. It just makes art and design come off as a joke. Somebody who calls themselves and artist should be ashamed of that work unless they just slapped something together at the last minute and got paid for it, and then the person is just lazy, and if there were multiple designs to choose from, and this was the best, they should have kept looking.

Re: Paranormal Cover
Funny, the similarity in the photos between this and W2MN/I'll Bite Your Face Off. In each, Alice fully faces the camera for the album cover, and is looking over his shoulder for the single. Does this mean that Paranoiac Personality is an ACG song?

Re: Paranormal Cover
Dannorama, I heard that the new single is a Alice solo song, I read that in the new album update thread.Dannorama wrote:Funny, the similarity in the photos between this and W2MN/I'll Bite Your Face Off.
