Great AC songs (that aren't)

Post by Dannorama » Sun Jan 10, 2021 8:18 pm

Let's have some fun. This thread is about songs by other artists that would be great Alice Cooper songs. I'll start.

(Click this link:) Blue Öyster Cult - "That Was Me."

Be careful he might be reading and think of recording more covers.

I thought "That Was Me" sounded alot like it could be an Alice tune too. Speaking of BOC I always thought "Sinful Love" from Agents of Fortune had an Alice vibe to it.

Good tip on "Sinful Love." (Link)

Another one here... It may seem like a slam-dunk due to the Ezrin involvement, but Deep Purple's "Vincent Price" is a prime candidate as well.

I thought so too when I heard this , reminded Me very much of "Dead Flies". Other BOC song that sounds like it would be an Alice song is "Stand and Fight" also from the new album.

Good pick! Here's the song: Stand and Fight. Love the sound and sustain on the guitar.

Back when it was released ('98), Gary Cherone said that he wrote Van Halen's "From Afar" with Alice in mind. That quote is lost on the internet, but here's the song.

On the debut album by Starz (1976), check out "Live Wire". Before getting it, read a Lester Bangs review and He says the singer sounds.."just like Alice Cooper". Checked it and damned if Michael Lee Smith doesn't!

Wow. Thanks, Sumorider. Very cool song! My Name is Ruin (Live).
Here's the Starz song Live Wire. Thanks tuneylune!
I am all for Alice covering each of these. He did Born This Way justice!

Love that song and the whole Album and yes Alice could make that his own

On another note I've always thought Alice could cover Sanitarium from Metallica and even Sandman

Hmmm...maybe the former song but I'm not as sure about the latter one.

Ozzy Osbourne's Eat Me from his last album. I thought it was very Cooperesque (and I loved the song)

A couple of tracks from The Lemon Twigs last album "Songs For The General Public" you could easily shut your eyes and imagine Alice belting them out.

In particular the opening track "Hell On Wheels" and "Leather Together".

I would recommend this album to anyone who likes 70s rock. Bits of Alice, Cheap Trick, Aerosmith and some pyschedelia mixed in.

Ozzy Osbourne - Eat Me

The Lemon Twigs - Hell On Wheels

The Lemon Twigs - Leather Together

Thanks! Glad to see this question getting some traction. More suggestions, please!

I think Bowie's Saviour Machine would sounded great on Pretties for You or Easy Action
