Unfortunately, RSD has turned into nothing more than a massive rip-off. Limited and overpriced vinyl releases, mostly unavailable to the majority of fans. I'll never understand why these releases can't be made available at a later date in whatever format (vinyl, CD, download), possibly in different artwork to show it's not the 'special' RSD release. As much as I would love a copy of Live At Glasgow '82 I just know I won't be able to get my hands on it. I'll have to make do with my bootleg version of the old radio broadcast.

Some artists have done this. I remember a double live album from the DEVO Freedom of Choice tour that was an exclusive RSD release only to appear on CD a few months later.

Also, I'm fairly sure The Residents have released some limited edition RSD vinyl that has subsequently appeared on CD.

As for the Alice one, a mate tells me he was quoted £31.99 as the retail price, so I guess we won't really know until tomorrow.

Afaik the Astroturf hasn't been released on cd yet and this was something new...With only 7000 copies on vinyl for the Glasgow gig what are the chances for a cd to be released?
you really wouldn't understand..

Success! Second person in the queue when I got there at 7am. Only three copies on sale at the shop I went to in Glasgow and five of the first six folk in the queue were there for Alice.

Absolutely nothing special about the cover and nothing in the way of inner sleeve notes etc. Having said that, it does feel great to be going home to play this in an hour or so.

Same here, ninth in the que for monorail in Glasgow and only 8 copies. Fortunately one person didn't buy Alice and I got the last copy. £28.99. Haven't played it yet but the packaging is really disappointing. Surely they could have stretched to a gatefold with some pictures. Quite a few in the queue also bought dirty diamonds

£32 for me.. I was at Mixed-Up records in the West End. They had asked for copies of Dirty Diamonds but didn't get any allocated.

I wasn't able to get queueing this morning but thankfully a mate has done the business for me. Another friend has had two failed attempts. eBay is already rampant with it of course.

I don't have a local shop, and couldn't stand outside queuing anyway, so have to hope there's some left online at a reasonable price :(

I was at Concorde records Perth Scotland at 9.05 after an hour's drive. They got 5 copies and I got the last one. Glad I made the effort.

Got my copy for € 34 . Disappointing cover as been stated here.the sticker on the outside plastic sleeve mentions that there is a limit of 7000 copy and that it is the first time for a vinyl edition...so far for the extra's....
you really wouldn't understand..

I’ve just picked up my copy from a record shop in Amersham, £30.
I have to disagree with the general consensus here, I walked out of the shop, looked at the cover and thought it was pretty good, the black, red and silver colour, the really cool special forces, military skull motif....
basically, I just smiled when I looked at it.
I’m only 35, got into Alice around ‘97, so obviously missed the blackout era first time around, however, i find it the most interesting period of the Cooper timeline, so, anything ‘new’ that harks back to that period gets a big thumbs up from me.

The quality is superb. I recently got the bootleg version (how is that for timing) that was from the radio Clyde recording. This has obviously been cleaned up but they have kept a good portion of the amazing atmosphere that was there that night. The level of musicianship is incredible. What a band.

Ordered it at two local shops but they received none.
Snagged one on Discogs for 32 euros.

Agree. It's taken me right back to the gig. Excellent.

Hopefully I'm sorted.
Just ordered from two different online stores just in case one suddenly says they don't have a copy in stock.

At least the websites didn't immediately crash like last time.

Last month my usual site crashed and was off line for hours.
I found another site and got past the point of paying and THEN that site crashed as well!!
Got no confirmation of the order, and when I called then the next morning they said they didn't have the order or any copies of what I wanted left! They understood what had happened and instantly refunded the money, plus a £5 voucher to say sorry which was nice of them, as it was the sheer number of people that crashed the site.
I just used that voucher for the Glasgow album without any such issues :)

Guess I was lucky! My store has been open 3 hours and I had forgotten about RSD. Drove over and they had one copy. $34.95.

Nothing in the two I went to in San Diego. I did get there an hour or so after opening mind. I did buy some vinyl for my daughter at Xmas.

X Under The Big Black Sun
Eno Here Come The Warm Jetts
Joan Jett. First album.

The record day stuff they still had plenty of was the Austin Powers soundtrack and a Lil Kim album.
