Very true.

I completely disagree with that. I think now, maybe even more ever the album cover is important. Because those of us who actually still buy cd's and vinyl aren't just buying it for the music, we're buying it for the full package.

As for the cover itself, I don't like it at all. It looks like there was no creative effort put into it whatsoever. Hopefully the actual music will be good.

I hope there is some creative effort put into the music, but I am immensely wary since it is the same basic team making this album as the last one.

When you release a lp and maybe get 30- 40 thousand sales if you are lucky, I'm not sure how critical the cover is. The golden age of cover artwork was the 60's to mid 80's. I'm not happy with that fact but I think it's the reality of the situation.

So you are saying there are no great covers out there today? Cobblers. There are way better fan made covers out there than this piece of crap probably taken with an IPhone.

Maybe the record industry should stop complaining about lack of sales when sales became an issue due to the lacm of quality products on the record industry's behalf. First they killed off vinyl, and they gave us tapes and cd's which are not indestructible as they claimed, and then they started manufacturing cheaper quality cd's which have an even lower shelf life, but most importantly, they quit nurturing bands for longevity and creativity. This led to an age where a band writes one hit and the rest of the album is dreck, so why should people buy an overpriced product? Now instead of focusing on the entire package as an artform, people just toss out useless noise and computer art that took 5 minutes to copy and paste together. The industry and the artists should be focused on how to enhance the business to make consumers want to be interested in the whole of the product again instead of blaming the consumer for their hardship.

Album sales were already in decline before the days of Napster and peer to peer file sharing. The indautry should have used the internet and digital age as a tool for the themselves, but they instead scapegoated it with propaganda and misinformation attacks, and they made their consumers the enemy.

I'll more than likely be getting the vinyl as long as the single isn't absolutely shockingly bad. If it is I'll have to stream first and see if something entices me - I never even got beyond track 7 of Hollywood Vampires and I've been a fan for 26 years. But even still, how often do you sit and stare at album artwork, even on a real record? If Billion Dollar Babies or Killer had come in the Raise Your Fist And Yell sleeve they'd still be treated like and thought of as great albums. If Lace And Whiskey had been the album that looked like a school desk and came with a pair of paper panties it would still be a load of shite.

On the bright side, the color scheme is attractive. We haven't had a white studio cover since 1983. The layout works at a glance, and the red logo pops. And - best of all - no hats!

Since the album cover is unveiled now, which I like it quite a bit, kinda looks like a split personality like dr.jekyll and mr.hyde with one angry and one not so crazy. But there's one final piece to the album to be revealed, the full tracklisting including the songs on the mini album. When will this be released? ?

My favorite album cover was not the cover. It was the back photo of LITD. That photo screamed rock n roll. Attitude just dripped from that picture. And more importantly, the music inside was remarkable.

Muscle Of Love would havr looked much better with the inner sleeve.

Yeah but Alice is old now, what he puts on the cover of his album shouldn't matter at this point in his career, he doesn't need the whole attitude image anymore, he makes his albums for his fans now not to gain success like he was in 1971!! He's buiLt his career now he could retire now if he wants to, you all should be glad he's still out there doing 100 shows a year and making albums, he said made his mark in rock and roll he don't have to do this anymore but he enjoys it.

Yeah, they dropped a bollock on Muscle Of Love (irony intended!)

That didn't look like anything anyone wanted to stump up cash for. Too gimmicky. And it looks like absolute garbage on the CD versions (well, maybe apart from the Japanese LP replica).

While you have a point the great Alice albums are just enhanced with the great covers, I stared in awe at Killer BDB' LITD for hours as a kid listening to those records.

Complete nonsense. He might as well give up according to your theory.

Fair enough - I mean those were the days when if the band didn't appear on the album cover and weren't on TV shows you had no idea what they even looked like. I can get that. And I'm guessing to the average kid back then the ACG and the NY Dolls looked like the most unhinged bunch of lunatics imaginable with an attitude and mystique that artists just don't have anymore and probably couldn't even if they wanted to.

Up until Billion Dollar Babies and the cards I wasn't quite sure who was who.

I actually like it more than the last 3 studio album covers. It looks like it's meant to be a play on the Rorschach test. Maybe it could've been executed just a little better but I see what they were going for.

The Rorschach test is a psychological test in which subjects' perceptions of inkblots are recorded and then analyzed using psychological interpretation, complex algorithms, or both. Some psychologists use this test to examine a person's personality characteristics and emotional functioning
