Poison Live.........
....First of all. I always liked the studio version the best.
In the early live years, the Coop had these hot female back up singers who gave it great harmony. You remember, right? Singing "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" in the background....For the last ten or so years, it's the band singing "poisoooooooooon" in the background, that takes a lot from the song. Alice realize, dude,
get some hot women back up singers!

No. Just one singer and just on one tour.

I thought I saw a few in "Trashes The World". Sounds like a few....A_MichaelUK wrote:>In the early live years, the Coop had these hot female back up singers who gave it great harmony.

Re: Poison Live.........
There were certainly 2 females who were seen on stage, can't remember if they both provided vocal input though.

That was just for that one show.
>can't remember if they both provided vocal input though.
Only one did and besides, a lot of the backing vocals on that tour were samples anyway.

Re: Poison Live.........
I've always thought the same thing. I agree that he should get a girl backup singer instead of the band.

Orianthi can be the guitarist and the back-up singer, she have a great voice.Inmate wrote:I've always thought the same thing. I agree that he should get a girl backup singer instead of the band.

Re: Poison Live.........
Thanks for clearing that up, I had noticed on some other live recordings of the TtW tour that only one female was evident.A_MichaelUK wrote:>There were certainly 2 females who were seen on stage,

Re: Poison Live.........
It doesn't work live for me; A) Cooper struggles to sing it and B) The vocal harmonies just don't get re-created. It seems to be a studio creation and is rather 'flat' live to me.

Not a fan of the song myself, ol' Desmond should have given this one too Bon Jovi, guess the lyrics would have been different though.

Re: Poison Live.........
My favourite live version from Poison is the one on Trashes The World and how it's played live nowadays is nowhere near the Trashes The World version. The backing vocals sound actually a bit boyband-ish now
But... I'm a big fan of the song, it has a special meaning to me, so yeah... Wouldn't want to miss it at an Alice Cooper gig!

Re: Poison Live.........
beginning to really hate this song. it was ok on the album but over the years the insistence of playing it every single time and it turning up on what seems like every B-side it really wearying. it's starting to feel like it's the only hit he's ever had. i'd love to have live versions of multiple other songs, but instead it seems like i have multiple versions of Poison instead.
Re: Poison Live.........
Not enough live versions of "......Dwight Frye". Mostly versions on special editions. The Montreux version should of been on disc, doesn't make sense. Here is a classic Coop song that never has seen it's face on cd, and yet there's the likes of posion, school's out (another song better studio, I like the kids). A great version of Ballad on the dvd. Actually that whole hanging sequence should of been on there.killer wolf wrote:beginning to really hate this song. it was ok on the album but over the years the insistence of playing it every single time and it turning up on what seems like every B-side it really wearying. it's starting to feel like it's the only hit he's ever had. i'd love to have live versions of multiple other songs, but instead it seems like i have multiple versions of Poison instead.

The irony is that one of the best live recordings of Dwight Fry was a B side to the single of........

Re: Poison Live.........
I've commented on this several times. It sounded great in the 90's, but since the Brutally Live tour it just sounds different. The chorus is sung in a completely different way and almost doesn't sound like the same song anymore.
Having said that, I noticed a huge improvement with the song when I saw Alice in Bournemouth last year.

Regardless of how anyone feels, it was a big hit for him and it's one he really HAS to play, although I wish he would change it around a little bit. Will see how it sounds next month. June 20 cannot get here soon enough!

Re: Poison Live.........
That's right Tuney just ask JC Fogerty about NOT playing any CCR songs as he was resurrecting his solo career. It didn't go over very well at all! Bowie also tried to "Retire" some songs during the '90's. Coop has a good handle on what the majority of his fans want to hear and he needs to include some (overused) songs for the new or casual fan.tuneylune wrote:Regardless of how anyone feels, it was a big hit for him and it's one he really HAS to play, although I wish he would change it around a little bit.
