GTH vs. L&W vs. FTI
Curious what people's fav is between these 3 great late '70's albums. I'd have to pick FTI because Alice seems really focused, the songwriting is great, and his singing is fantastic. All killer & no filler. The only complaint I've ever had was the backing vox on "Serious" during the bridge. Love the tune, but the vocals were too much. Luckily, Rick Neilson's guitar kicks in to save it. Small complaint on a classic lp.

Go to hell is my favorite of the 3. A lot of humor in this one.
Re: GTH vs. L&W vs. FTI
Poor 3 in a row but I'll go for ACGTH.Things picked up with the brilliant Flush The Fashion.
Re: GTH vs. L&W vs. FTI
Out of the three, I would pick FTI by miles

FTI and GTH are very close, but I'm going to say GTH because a couple of all-time classic Alice songs on there edge out the best of the bunch on FTI.

In every case, Alice Cooper tries to surround himself with a good producer/songwriter. Bob Ezrin, Roy Thomas Baker, Bernie Taupin....these people really help construct the concepts that Alice going for.
I enjoy all three albums equally...maybe Lace and Whiskey a little more. The only reason is despite the muddy orchestrations...I love the sounds that Bob Ezrin seems to be going for.
DO THIS: Turn the volume up really loud and listen to "My God"...those organs just explode.

As a full album FTI is my favorite of the 3 but all 3 have some good tracks.

The backing vocals on Serious add to the song!
One of the reasons that album is so great, aside from the brilliant writing, musicianship and production, is the backing vocals.
Kiki Dee on Jackknife Johnny is superb and as for Dick Wagner's solo on Jackknife Johnny it is one of his best, a spine tingler!
From The Inside only behind the 1971-75 albums for me.
Lead guitar on Social Debris. Album on iTunes, Amazon & Spotify, title track featured on TV

From The Inside. This is one of my all time favourite.
I made him sign the OBI "Mini LP" last Tuesday after his show in Paris.

Definitely From the Inside. It is my favorite Alice album of all-time. FTI contains some of Alice's best lyrics. Lace and Whiskey is one of those albums that has gotten better over time (Dada is another one and now is one of my favorites). I know a lot of people like it but I always thought GTH was a poor followup to WTMN. There are a few good songs on GTH but as a whole, I don't think it works. I realize musical tastes were changing but I have wondered if Alice had made a more rocking followup to WTMN (which did extremely well on a year or so before) if he would have stayed on the charts a while longer.

It's definitely FTI for me as well. Because of the music but also when you think of what songs like 'How you gonna see me now' meant to Alice. He keeps calling 'Serious' one of his all time favs and it's also one of mine.
In my mind, oh, a million voices tell me no

It's testament that when interviewed in the early 1980's he cited Serious as his favourite song of all time whereas when interviewed in 74 it was Desperado & Dwight Fry.A_MichaelUK wrote:>From The Inside only behind the 1971-75 albums for me.

A great album and I don't understand why some don't care for it

That's a good point. However, just so that everyone is clear, he will also often cite "Love It To Death, Killer", School's Out", "Billion Dollar Babies", "Welcome To My Nightmare", "From The Inside" and "The Last Temptation" as his favourite albums (as well as whichever is the most recent album).

I must agree that the backing vocals on the whole of the FTI album are wonderfully thought out and executed ( pardon the pun ) ....with quality backing vocals on songs like The Quiet Room & For Veronica's Sake , it's really a shame we've had to wait to so long for a great remaster job .....
It would also be great if Alice did another album with David Foster at the helm .

I vaguely remember him saying (quite recently actually) how hard they worked on those arrangements.
