The first time you saw Alice live....
The first time I saw Alice was in 1980. I want to say the opener was Billy Squier but have seen Billy so many times I can't be sure if he opened for Alice. After we attend our 5 TOD shows that will make 63 total for me.
I am just curious as to when other fan's may have seen Alice for the first time and if they remember the opening act. Also how many times you have seen Alice. There has to be some in here that are well into the hundred's??

Re: The first time you saw Alice live....
I believe Billy Squire was opening for Alice, so your first guess is probably correct.
My first Alice Cooper show was The Welcome to My Nightmare show. It was July 1975 and it took place at the Montreal Forum. It was also the last night of the North American WtMN tour. The opening band was The James Gang. (Suzi Quatro did not play in Montreal.) Since then, I have been to too many Alice shows to count. I've seen them all: The Nightmare Returns, RYFAY, Trash, The "Hey Stoopid" show, the Carnival shows, Brutal Planet, Dragontown, etc., etc. I even saw Alice's infamous show at the Cathouse in Los Angeles on Halloween, 1989. Where I was dragged over Alice's feet and across the stage to safety.... because the crowd went crazy and rushed the stage and security got worried about the girls in the front row.

Re: The first time you saw Alice live....
My first show was March 10th 1990 at the Syria Mosque in Pittsburgh on the Trash Tour.
My now longtime Cooper buddy used to go and work the shows there... basically teenagers could show up in a white dress shirt and black pants and you could help out setting up the venue before the show and then as a reward you could stand there and watch the show.
He invited me along for the first time so we helped out before the show and then I got to watch the show from the back of the floor.
I still remember hearing them soundcheck "This Maniac's In Love With You" (music only) as we were working. It's funny what makes an impression on you and you remember forever.
I knew the hits from radio, but I remember as if it were yesterday, hearing "Desperado" and the line "I wear lace... and I... wear black leather" and it totally blew me away.
The next day I ran out and bought "Greatest Hits" and was amazed at tjat it was just brilliant material from start to finish.
The rest is history.

The more things change the more they stay the same. My sister- in- law works in marketing for a "seasonal" venue up here in New England (Alice played there in 2003) and she was just telling me recently that often the crew "take on" a few lingering teens for some grunt work in exchange for a few "tickets"RemarkablyInsincere wrote:

Re: The first time you saw Alice live....
It's to be hoped I remember my first show since it was only three years ago
Not that I'd ever forget. It was Sheffield City Hall 2006, some of the local talent opened for him, a band named Voodoo and a couple of others I can't remember. One of the lead singers told us to buy their album cos they were skint. Since then I've been to pretty much all of the UK shows, 12 in total. Soon to become 22 by the end of the year

1975, Syracuse NY with Suzi Quarto as the opening act. Very good show. I know I saw Billy Squier open for Alice in NYC in 80 during the Flush the Fashion tour. That was a good show. Pretty sure Mike Pinera was playing guitar. One of the most overlooked guitarist out there. He could play circles around most anyone.

Re: The first time you saw Alice live....
I don't recall the actual date the first time I saw Alice but it was early 1987. I have seen Alice live sixteen times. I am still hoping they are going to add some southern dates.

I first saw in 1982 on the "Special Forces" tour.

A band called Sapphire - they were not worth remembering.
> There has to be some in here that are well into the hundred's??
I think it's one hundred and twenty times, approximately.

Wow, Andy.
I saw my first Alice show in 1987. Megadeth was the opener. I didn't see an Alice show again until 2004(I believe it was 17 years between shows in DesMoines, Iowa. I've now seen him 7 times, 8 after tne K.C. show next week.
Here's the newspaper ad for the first time.

I think I've seen 33 shows so far, with at least 2 more to go on this tour.

Re: The first time you saw Alice live....
I'm a somewhat younger member of his fanbase, so my first show was the CT leg of his Brutal Planet Tour at the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford. I had just seen Kiss's "not so" Farewell Tour a couple years earlier and an Ozzfest the summer before. This show absolutely killed those experiences and turned me off of Kiss forever. Alice had so much more energy. There was so much more to watch. The singing, theatrics and musicianship were mind blowing. Whlie Ozzy had deteriorated to the point of having 3 dance moves(overhand clap, run from side to side and "bunny hop") and Kiss's special effects at some points took nearly 10 minutes to set up, Alice didn't leave us any time to look down at our watches. He grabbed us by the throat the minute The Controller started speaking and didn't let go until my ears stopped ringing the next day.
Re: The first time you saw Alice live....
My first Alice gig was in 1989 (The Trash Tour) at Wembley Arena, i think Britny fox & Great White opened?? I had really crappy seats!
I've been to every tour since. I thinl i must of seen 30 - 40 shows??

In case you're interested, I think Lemmy was at that show, as well.

My first show was on the Welcome to My Nightmare tour at Wembley Arena, back in about 1874, I think it was the Heavy Metal Kids supporting ( they were great too).
Absolutely excellent show and the whole place roared when Alice jumped through the split screen!
