Re: Here ya go, girls...!
The funny thing about this picture is where it made an appearance. It wouldn't have been too surprising if it had been featured in Rolling Stone, especially since Rolling Stone Magazine was where David Cassidy shed his "wholesome" image as well as all of his clothes in 1972. Or Cosmopolitan magazine would have made some sense too. But no.....this pic was merrily featured in, of all things, 16 Magazine! Yes, THE 16 Magazine which catered to prepubescent girls between the ages of 8-12. Must have made quite the impression.....
Re: Here ya go, girls...!
Glam, you are right as usual. 16 Magazine was the symbol of teenybopper heaven in the 70's.
Baz, I promise - I'll return this issue to you next week. Please stop badgering me...

Yes, the good ol' days of teenybopper magazines like 16 and Tigerbeat!Dannorama wrote:Glam, you are right as usual. 16 Magazine was the symbol of teenybopper heaven in the 70's.

Danno, considering the "behaviour" of Baz...and a few others, I think you should have called this thread "Here ya go, girls....and a few guys ...".

I imagine that the bottom of the pic was cropped for this teen mag...no??The funny thing about this picture is where it made an appearance. No, that's the full picture. I don't think there are any published photos showing the "full monty" of Alice.......(sorry girls!)Gunner wrote:I imagine that the bottom of the pic was cropped for this teen mag...no??The funny thing about this picture is where it made an appearance. I *think* he meant the hair that's showing on the bottom.
I tell ya, I'm 27 and used to get 16 Magazine when I was the right age.....and even NOW you don't see that kind of picture in there. Amazing they put it in back then!

Re: Here ya go, girls...!
But my original post made it clear that this entire picture (or a similar one), including the hair, was included in 16 Magazine. So I thought his post meant that he thought it was cropped so that teens wouldn't see anything more.NotSoPerfect wrote:I *think* he meant the hair that's showing on the bottom.

Your second comment is very interesting and true. I really think in many ways, people are more conservative nowadays than they were back then. The 60s and 70s had a rebelliousness and wildness about them.

You told me you had already posted it back.
It had better be in the same condition when it arrives.
I also said this photo was not for sharing.

Alice gave us just enough to run with it. Our imagination is ANYTHING we want past those
Damn it, ya'll are going to make me loose my precious "Trash" status with this picture. It's funny that the next album I purchased was "The Last Temptation" (thanks again for the suggestion SparkintheDark).

Hmm.. You'd think he'd have a bit of a trim before a fotoshoot!
The name 'Wahl' ring any bells Alice?

People didn't "trim" as much back in the 70s. The "natural" look was more in back then.Mad Axeman wrote:Hmm.. You'd think he'd have a bit of a trim before a fotoshoot!

I DID mean that actually. I am suprised that that photo went out like that at the time in that magazine!I *think* he meant the hair that's showing on the bottom.
I do remember buying 'Words' (well, one of those pop lyrics books you could buy in the early 70s) because it proudly proclaimed 'pull out Alice Cooper pic' only to discover when I bought it that it was a picture of alice wearing nothing but a snake!! It was that one used on the giant billboard that was stalled in Piccadilly Circus. I hadn't seen it before, my brother snatched it off me and showed it to my parents.....I felt stupid and a bit of a weirdo, was only 8!!!!

Re: Here ya go, girls...!
But if you look at my original post, I was saying that it would have been less surprising had this photo appeared in some other magazine like Rolling Stone (where even David Cassidy went totally nude)...and how the real shock was that it appeared in 16 Magazine, of all places! That was the whole point of my original post.Gunner wrote:I DID mean that actually.
