Post by recoop » Mon Sep 15, 2008 10:44 am

Recently remembered seein a cinema advert in the 1970s with I think Noel Edmonds (or lookalike) standing next to someone dressed as Alice with a snake(don't think it would be Alice)..any recall of this?

No.

Do you recall anything of the product/service being advertised?

No I don't recall product...at the time we saw little of Alice on tv and I was stunned by advert and wondered if it was him-at that UKtv or cinema did not feature him often...not a lot of help I'm afraid but just recall Noel Edmonds I think standing next to AC or lookalike...bugged me for years and then reading a thread it flashed back to me...thanks for considering

No problem, interesting though. To dress like Alice at that time, (as I am sure you would appreciate) was to make quite a statement that I think not many in advertising would have chosen to do, unless to project some kind of 'humourous negativity', with which to advantageously compare their product?

When you said 'someone dressed like Alice', I kind of got a mental block, and could not think beyond Adam Ant 'dressed like Alice' at the close of one of his videos ("Prince Charming"), although I think this was at a later (1981) time than you are suggesting.

Thanks Maurice..the reason I say Alice like is that I wasnt really sure what Alice exactly looked like at that point...just from Album covers..would be 70s...a funny aside is that at the time I was so desperate to see anything with Alice in it I went to see what I thought was Sextette 1978 ish in an Edinburgh dingy film house called the classic...the film that was showing was Sexette if I remember correctly and had no connection and was soft porn...embarassing as I took a girlfriend to see Alice in it...you can laugh aloud at my expense...I do now!

:rotfl:

I guess your embarrassment was in proportion to your feelings toward her at the time! But did she ask you in for coffee? :rotfl:

No, I'm afraid I can claim no success in any direction from that evening...I can remember hoping no one recognised me as I left cinema :blues:
