Alice And The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame!

Post by Billie1966 » Tue Sep 02, 2008 12:44 pm

I'm sure that this has been discussed here before.. But... WHY IN THE HELL IS ALICE NOT IN THE HOF!! ::((: When is this wrong going to be righted??? The man has been making music and continues to make music since 1969.. I'm sure some of you have your own views.

IMHO, the HOF means nothing in the grand scheme of things. It's an establishment (one that isn't well liked now anyway), something I thought Rock N' Roll was supposed to rebel against. Even if Alice gets in, it's not going to change anything about his accomplishments both past, present and future. That isn't saying that I think he should stay out, etc. That's mine ;)

agreed. The RARHOF is an absolute joke - funded by the record companies to boost sales of their own artists. It means absolutely nothing to those lucky enough to have more than one brain cell.

I'd rather not see Alice inducted into this commercial piece of self glorifying crap. He doesn't need a phoney organisation to give him the legend seal of approval, he has already earned it.

Mmmmmmm... Yea I guess I kinda understand what you guys are saying..
It's never going to matter in the grand scheme of things that Alice has done.

Here's an older thread (just one of many) that discusses Alice and the HOF. There are some great comments in it, even if it was heated a few times.

Would Alice refuse though if they saw the light and put him in it?

I'm Eighteen at least makes their 500 songs that shaped rock n roll

Alice is my favourite artsit /band but trying to be objective, and I know a lot of you may hate some of the artists/bands in the hall of fame, who do you think deserves to be that is in there, bearing in mind Alice isn't and their importance to music history with the different genres of music?

For me Alice should have been in with this lot who are

The Beatles and also as solo artists
John Lennon, Paul McCartney & George Harrison
Jimi Hendrix
Bob Dylan
Elvis Presley
Chuck Berry
BB King
Ray Charles
Miles Davis
Stevie Wonder
James Brown
Michael Jackson
Aretha Franklin
Marvin Gaye
Smokey Robinson
Isaac Hayes
The O'Jays
The Beach Boys
The Rolling Stones
Eric Clapton & Cream
The Who
Pink Floyd
Bob Marley
Johnny Cash
Eagles
Led Zeppelin
David Bowie
Elton John
Queen
Carlos Santana
Prince
The Doors
Neil Young
Bruce Springsteen
Sex Pistols

Some of the acts that have also made it in other than the ones I've listed who I think are are valid, just don't deseve to be in ahead of the Coop in my opinion, I mean The Grateful Dead for heavens sake, think the "experts" must have been smoking too much dope!

I don't think murder should be glorified and he shouldn't have been gotten a ticket. Who invited him anyway?

C'mon secretly we all real want Alice there don't we?. it's good to see Alice on tv whatever the circumstances. It's really only a matter of time before the authorities get there act together and induce him. I'd like to see Mike/Neal/Dennis and maybe Glen's sister to honor Glen but we might just get Alice solo. I do believe it's true that the bands have to pay in access of $10,000 dollars for a seat at a table in there honor which is bizarre. Maybe Shep could have a whip around tp pay for Michael as I believe he is falling on hard times. Neal and Dennis are successful in real estate I think. Not sure about Glen's estate.

Maybe his inducement will co-incide withe the MEGA box

They are more likely to induce him.....than induct him.....Just kidding.
Seriously, this year will be the 15th year that Alice Cooper (including the original band) is eligible for nomination. Considering that the nominating committee has not even nominated Alice Cooper once in 14 years, I wouldn't hold my breath if I was you.....

GOOD he is ours and we ain't sharing!
after being a fan for this long, to see my musical mentor be included in a list with Michael Jackson and the o'jays?
we should get a petition to keep Alice out!
