Re: Muscle of love expanded
I got this in the mail yesterday...A big Thank You to my Daughter, who nows what Her Old Man likes.
I really like the packaging and had to look for a second before opening. The original disc sounds as good as it always did, but as other posters have indicated, the second disc is FANTASTIC and worth buying the whole thing for. After 45 years of listening, I can pick out differences in vocals-especially "Crazy Little Child" and "The Man With The Golden Gun"-and although it's kind of odd hearing "Never Been Sold Before" without the horns, it still sounds dynamite.
Great liner notes as well, pointing out who played what solo and never knew about a "Squeeze Drum", just thought it was Dennis running up the neck.
I have to commend Rhino for doing such a great job on the ACG reissues-I'm hoping LITD can get the same treatment.

Pleased to hear that Si.Si wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 10:25 pmMy copies arrived earlier today via a courier, and with no customs declaration at all. I thought that was illegal but not complaining!
Maybe they are shipping them in in bulk and then distributing them as if they started here? I (clearly) have no idea. But thanks to those above who convinced me to chance it.
I ordered something else with a reasonable value recently (not music) from the USA and that also arrived without a customs charge. I was convinced that it must have been shipped in bulk to the UK and then couriered locally.

Rhino has always been great at reissues! They must have reissued Warner items & requested so much to clean up that Warner absorbed them to pretty much save face! I enjoy everything I have with a Rhino label.

Very impressed with this release and have enjoyed all the stripped down tracks much more than Road and Detroit Stories put together.
I'm sure Rhino will do a great job when they finally reissue LITD.

Wow. It's been seven years since they made this vinyl reissue. The sound on this disc is an upgrade from previously available releases. Outside of releasing this mix on CD, it's tough to think what else they could do. On MOL, there were multiple layers of horns, bkgd vocals, etc. that were removed to reveal the basic tracks. LITD is very raw in comparison. Unless they were to completely update the mix, I don't believe that there's a lot they can do with the studio version. Who knows? Maybe there's something on the shelf that we don't know about.

There are lots of demo's/rehearsels out there for LITD. Also enough good radioshows/liveshows.
Re: Muscle of love expanded
Thanks for that info, I didn't know about the 2017 release. Like you said hopefully they can find something we're unaware of.Dannorama wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 2:06 pmWow. Looks like there is going to be another TalkShopLive show with the OGs on Monday at 8pm (EST) It’s going to be about the Muscle of Love album. Like the earlier BDB show, this is bound to be recorded and seen on their website. (Scroll down to New and Upcoming) Hope it can be seen outside of the USA.

Here's the show. The only thing said about new music? “Anything can happen.”

Just finished listening to disc 2 again. The liner notes make a lot more sense while listening.Daggers & Contracts wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 11:15 pmRhino has always been great at reissues! The Quad Mix on BluRay was Impressive.
However, the remixed/mastered album on Cd was clean & clear!
