It's an overrated album. Why are they doing a podcast and have band's cover songs from it? They sold out with it.

Why i do feel it is overrated , it is a seminal work which blew the doors open for a metal band like metallica. I liked it more in my youth and less so as i got older/heard it more and more but it still stands up as a good album, people are covering the songs because it managed to reach all corners of pop culture so people want to be part of its celebration. (not to mention it gives them a PR boost too)

The Black Album dropped at the right time.
They had gotten over the death of Cliff Burton (...And Justice for All)
+ Jason Newsted was allowed to step up.
