I Love America
How come Alice never brought this song back when he started to play one obscure song each tour? It was on his box set and would have been good after 9/11.
Re: I Love America
As big of a fan of Dada as I am I don't think the song would fit in his set, at least in it's full recorded form. I can see him playing a few verses and segue into another song but a full performance would throw off the flow of any set.
I think it would be great if Alice had the pre-recorded version of Dada play prior to him taking the stage and the band open with Under My Wheels.
A pre-recorded version of I Love America could also work in the same manner with the opener being Elected.

Re: I Love America
Didn't he kinda half did that, with the use of the "da da" sample featuring during one of the recent intro tapes. Would have to work out which tour it was (and I'm too tired to do it right now) but it was in the last few years.
Not exactly what you want, but it's something!

He played "It's Hot Tonight" and that song is medicore.

Re: I Love America
One of my favourites. He could do a clipped version with just the main verses, and it might sorta work. Can't see how he would segue into the "clean" voice spoken salesman bit, plus it has the cowboys and injuns bit!
Re: I Love America
A lot of songs have clean vocals. He sang Clones. The car salesman line is the part I don't like.
Re: I Love America
Sadly It's just too obscure. We will never see anything from Zipper or Da Da live. The only way he could get me back into the theatre would be a band reunion ( full show ) or a black out show.
Re: I Love America
While I don't completly disagree, remember not so long ago how we thought we would never hear anything from Special Forces, Flush The Fashion, or Constrictor again? We were proven wrong. Never say never. It just needs to spike Alice's interest and it could happen. You never know (but it probably won't haha)
Re: I Love America
Yes but songs from those three albums have been played before. Zipper and Da Da we've had nada! I think they are the only two albums in the catalogue that this applies to. I'm sure Detroit Stories will see at most two songs when touring commences.
Re: I Love America
I am not a Dada fan. I just like this song.
Re: I Love America
Responding to Si, Dada, was used during the raise the dead tour wasn’t it?
During the descent into the graveyard of the Hollywood vampires, basically just the word dada from the record, closest to any live rendition I guess we will get.
Shame, it’s without question my favourite album, no mans land is an utter work of genius

Re: I Love America
Yes it was, well remembered. It was added in later in the tour when they re-vamped the RTD section.
But I'm sure it was included in a similar same way as part of a recent intro tape...

Re: I Love America
I've always felt that I Am The Future is a song 100% suitable for the live shows. It's a real shame he hasn't tried it.

Re: I Love America
Make That Money would be good live I think. An instrumental jam with a couple of these songs could work too (leading up to, or in place of, the drum solo perhaps).

I'd rather see tap dancing poodles than a drum solo. :Dlordcatfish wrote: ↑Sat May 08, 2021 10:09 amMake That Money would be good live I think. An instrumental jam with a couple of these songs could work too (leading up to, or in place of, the drum solo perhaps).
