New OG Album

As Si pointed out in another thread from the last few albums we now have enough new songs featuring the original guys to make an album. Do you think we could cherry pick these tracks to make a cohesive album that flows well? If so what order would you put the tracks in?

I've been at this for a few weeks now; was just waiting for I Hate You to drop to round out the set. The title is kind of a joke.

You and All of Your Friends
Genuine American Girl
Social Debris
Fireball
The Sound of A
Rats
I'll Bite Your Face Off
I Hate You
When Hell Comes Home
A Runaway Train

Thanks for the link but, not currently (more than likely ever) on Spotify.
I have so much vinyl I don't need any digital platform.
I've got (Amazon Music basic) & still play discs in the house & garage.
I already have 1 comp disc in mind. See IHY thread...
Now, on to Disc 2. :8):
I'll let you know of the sequencing when complete.
That may not to seem to be a big deal but, it needs to flow in some
form or another.

Fireball is not OG.
It was written by and features Dennis, so used creative license and included it, as one that could conceivably have been on an ACG album.
Same with the Sound Of A

Including both makes sense to me too.

I labored pretty hard over the track sequencing. I analyzed the key band albums to see where the fast songs fell, where the slow songs fell. The heavy songs. The pop songs. The dark songs. I didn’t want to just sequence them how Alice had sequenced them on the various albums they appeared on. I think this version holds some surprises. The ending of A Runaway Train as the album closer strikes a little bit of a Killer note.

I have enjoyed listening to it and now that I Hate You is in place, I’d be pretty satisfied if this in fact was an album made by the OGs.

Thankfully Dennis didn't play on the pants pissing song.

This is great and flows really well. I was trying to decide if the songs featuring just Dennis/Alice should go in and I think you made the right decision as the fit really well in your playlist. However by that rationale should Hallows Grave be included too 🤔

A pity he didn’t as it’s a fantastic song 👌🏻

Or to really push it, Cold Cold Coffin, which in another reality could easily have been Alice singing and is clearly an Cooper-esque song.
I think it's up to the individual on what they include as it IS an imaginary album and the criteria/ratinale you use for inclusion is entirely up to you.

Personally I think Dennis is clearly the closest to the spirit of the original band right now, and is most likely to be the one to mold the direction such an album would/should go in.

I fully agree on the inclusion of a reboot of CCC, I don’t think Dennis got enough recognition for it as it’s a masterpiece!

Rats
Fireball
Genuine American Girl
You And All Your Friends
The Sound Of A (or Cold Cold Coffin)
Runaway Train
Social Debris
I’ll Bite Your Face Off
When Hell Comes Home
I Hate You

I created this tracklist as if it were a vinyl. 5 tracks on each side and balanced timing. If Paranormal’s production was not lacking compared to the other two albums, I likely would have mixed them up more, but since there were 5 songs that would work from the album, I just made it one side.

I also think that the album is missing an important element. I think it is missing something that hearkens back to the other side of the Alice Cooper Group like Ballad Of Dwight Fry, Black Juju, Halo Of Flies, Killer, My Stars. When Hell Comes Home gets somewhat close to it, but it is still pretty straightforward. I think this would likely be remedied if the band actually rehearsed an album instead of tracks being chosen specifically for Alice solo albums.

In lieu of that, I personally put Cold Cold Coffin in the place of The Sound Of A, because it comes closer to filling that void for me, and I think it would be cool to throw a curveball with somebody else singing a track as well.

The flow on this playlist is better for me. Im not a big fan of most of the tracks apart from Fireball and the Sound of A but this context lifts them a little for me. I simply can’t take to Cold Cold Coffin but you are right in that it is closest to the songs you mention. That said, the Sound of A fits really well at the end of side 1 and does fit the bill in a way because it’s so different.

I agree Del. The Sound Of A does fit well. I have listened to the track listing both ways the last few days, and The Sound Of A has really grown on me in this context.

Loving this song order!

If this hypothetical album had been released and marketed as a "reunion" record for the original lineup, how would it have fared? What would the reaction have been?
Would it have been considered:
a) a flop and a missed opportunity like The Stooges "The Weirdness"?
b) an enjoyable rehash, if a little safe and unimaginative, like Black Sabbath's "13"?
c) a resounding success that recaptures the glory days.... (can't think of an example of a 70s band who've pulled that off... yet!)

D) Let the OG (this is how we called them now?), rest in peace. But, I would suggest that the remains band members collaborate on the new Alice Cooper albums.

LOVE IT! This is exactly what the past two albums SHOULD have been. As a fan who hasn't been happy with Alice for the past 9 years, thank you.
