Hi,

here's my personal review of the first two cd's - treasures one and two.

Note : English is not my native language.

Disc one - treasures one.

1. Price tag
I knew the song so nothing new for me but this is excellent quality
2. Nobody likes me (demo)
Great quality of a song I always liked
3. On a train trip (sing low sweet cherio)- demo
great to hear
4. Reflected - demo
great song
5. easy action version 2 radio ad
at the start very funny
6. Mr. and misdemeaner (Chicago Underground)
Live version and GREAT to listen
7. Fields of regrets (Chicago Underground)
live - very raw sounding but a pleasure to listen
8. I'm eighteen (Chicago Underground)
live - Great live version. Splendid version of this classic, Excellent
9. Love it to death radio ad
nothing special
10. Eighteen - pre production
raw version , excellent and I love it
11. Be my lover - demo
never heard this quality
12. killer - demo
great track
13. halo of flies - demo
a real classic
14. tornado warning (desperado) - demo
a killer
15. Killer - radio ad
great ad
16. Is it my body - Seattle 1971
Live- I always like old songs playing live. Great

Note that the demo's have sometimes slightly different lyrics.
In the live versions of Chicago Underground you can hear riffs that later came back in different songs.

Conclusion : a great first disc with my highlight : 18 (Chicago Underground) and 18 pre-production.

Wish there were more of the Chicago Underground concert as it was so early at their carreer that the group are still learning.

Remember that most of this material is about 40 years old so don't expect Blu-Ray quality but i think this will be the best quality you ever heard and will hear.

Up to the next disc - treasures two.

1. Akron rubber bowl ad
nice
2. School's out - Puerto Rico
Allmost complete instrumental and a GREAT listen.
3. Kids session
very funny and absolutely a winner to listen
4. Luney tunes - outtake
great, great
5. My stars - outtake
also great to listen
6. School's out - demo
greta version
7. Under my wheels - Madison S.G.
live and a terrific version
8. Teenage lament '74 - demo
9. Never been sold before - demo
10. working up a sweat - demo
11. Muscle of love - demo
The demo's are a great listen but soundwise they are not the best.
12. Teenage lament '74 - pre production
13. Muscle of love - pre production
12 and 13 are way different (soundwise) than 18 pre production. Sound is not that good.
13. Muscle of love - radio ad
very nice
14. Good to see you again - radio ad
nicely done in an old fashion style
15. Muscle of live - Rio
live and great to hear the original band at their end.
16. greatest hits - radio ad.
a great ad

Conclusion : A disc were I had higher expectations of.
Soundquality is not that good on the demo's and pre production.
The surprise of the disc is for me the Kids session and School's out - live in puerto rico.

Now I need a break.
Remember that this review is MY personal opinion and made after just ONE listen. I would love to hear other reviews.

But let's face it : this is a box for the fans. Beautiful made and a great gift for me. Although I had the demo's in a lower quality it was a great pleasure to hear them in such a good quality.

I found some great gems on this set.

How about you ?????????

Mestreech. I must say i agree with your review so far. I love the first disc. Great to here some of the alternate lyrics and really raw versions of the songs. The ten minute plus version of 18 is a real highlight. Love the almost instrumental version of schools out on disc 2 but overall the firs disk is better. The Killer live Cd is amazing. Alices vocals are a bit low in the mix during be my lover but this is soon sorted out in the next song. I know a lot of us have herad this show before but it is a lot better quality here. Halo of flies and the long version of Is it my body are just immense. I prefer the live version of yeah yeah yeah here than the studio version, it just sounds awesome and i have fallen in love with this song all over again! I think out of all the stuff in the boxset i will be listening to this the most. My daughter is in bed now so hopefully i will get a chance to watch the dvd tonight.

About the live version of 'Is It My Body', did they play the 'My Very Own' part ?

And about the live version of 18, it is the long version of the song wich beginn with the full keyboard intro ?

3.0 out of 5 stars Box Set is nice - DVD is disappointing, 23 Jun 2011
By Peter Motter

This review is from: Old School: 1964-1974 (Audio CD)

as a collector's item for enthusiastic fans of the Alice Cooper Band this Box Set sure is kind of a must-have.

Apart from that, mainly the DVD is disappointing, as I at least expected video footage from the 1971 St.Lois
concert, that suprisingly is only available as audio CD in excellent quality but not as video at all.

Regarding the Old School Box Set I looked forward unreleased video footage from the Killer and the School's out
Tour in 1971 and 1972 and - sad but true - there is almost nothing on the DVD, that would meet that expectation.

On the live Cd they do the long version of is it my body with the 'my very own' part and yes on the treasures one disc they have the long version of 18.

There is nothing in the advertisements for the box set that suggests video footage from the St. Louis show is included and it is impossible to include such footage that is not known to exist.

Thanks to all for the reviews. Keep em coming. I have to say I'm surprised that the MOL outtakes don't sound great as they sound really good on the boots I heard.

This is real crummy timing for Canada Post locking out their workers - I will be forced to be extra patient until my package arrives.

They may not be the same recordings that you have.

It's supposed to ship today, but have heard nothing so far. They haven't changed the dispatch estimate or anything. Maybe I'm too impatient, but I'm just desperate to get my hands on it!
