Hi Dennis,

I'm wondering, if you were to give 3 tips on how to write a good song ... what would it be?

Good songs can reveal themselves in many different ways, however, for me, it usually begins with a thought that grabs me in some way. The thought, or idea, usually has a mood that supports the feel.

Capturing the initial inspiration can be as elusive as remembering a dream so I work fast to record the basic idea.

The main lyric is all that matters - verse lyrics can come later. I keep it simple at this point.

If I have to come back to work on it, I try to stay focused on the initial feel and stay true to it.

I also find it good to write lots of songs without worrying if they're good or not. The good ones will stand out and you can polish them later. - DD
