Hello Dennis!
First of all, It's amazing that you have this spot here and I've been following it from time to time.
Thanks for taking the time!
My question are about a previously unknown TV performance that as it seems, could be the TV debut of Alice Cooper! It was on a show called THE NEW SOUND which ran on KCOP, Channel 13 in the California area. I attach a link to 2 photos taken from a publication called "The World Countdown" from late may 1969 which stated that Alice Cooper taped a performance for the show earlier in that same month (may, 1969). This would pre-date the known TV performance on the Hy Lit Show with 3 to 4 weeks (Hy Lit show was recorded on june 14 1969)...
Can you recall any details from this?
Would be pretty amazing if a copy still exist somewhere... we can hope!
Many Thanks in advance!
Your friend / Anders

Anders,
Usually, my memory is fairly vivid, however, it has proven to be selective, and unfortunately, I don't remember anything about this gig.
In those days, we felt we had the visuals for TV appearances, but our image caused things like this to be rare.

Thanks for your reply, Dennis.
Pity it didn't ring any bells.
Has anyone else ever heard anything about it?
After being an Alice Cooper-fan for over 50 years, info on this performance hasn't turned up anywhere which makes it even more of a mystery....

First I've heard of it, and searching shows up little beyond listings for the show in LA newspapers around that time. The fact I've never found anything listing the band on the show in newspapers before (and I spent months searching newspaper archives) and the fact that most TV listings only mention the show title with no detail as to the guests, make it hard to nail down the precise date it could have been broadcast. The band were in Colorado for much of May though so that would narrow down the recording date, possible to the the third week in May, so that would suggest it aired (if it aired) towards the end of May or start of June.
KCOP still exists and is now a Fox TV station. Who knows if there's anything in their archives. The fact that there seems to be so few mentions of the show would suggest nothing from it has ever been repeated, so it would take someone to actively look for it, which is unlikely to happen I suppose.
Would be a real find if it did show up!

My best guess is that it was something that Joe Greenberg arranged - he was the co-manager that was always on the phone hustling up opportunities in the Hollywood days.
So I sent the photos to Joe. He said he doesn't remember it, but he does remember getting the Acoustic Amplifier Company to sponsor us. They also sponsored the Doors.
