Revisiting Old Haunts

Post by VinceRaven » Tue Nov 15, 2022 12:51 pm

Hey Dennis,

Have you and/or Cindy ever stopped by the sites of the Pontiac Farmhouse or the Galesi Mansion for a blast from the past, or maybe to show your daughters?

Thanks

The Pontiac farm is gone. I've looked via Google Maps and the old dirt road is now a street lined with warehouses and other commercial buildings. So a description of how it used to look would be better without going there.

The Galesi Estate has always been gated and difficult to see from the road due to it being surrounded by trees. After it burned, a newer style mansion was built there and it doesn't look much like the original house. The only way to see it would be to trespass like so many fans did when the band lived there.

To be candid, as for our daughters, or even for Cin and I, there's not much interest in visiting those places. They have, however, gotten close to some of our long time friends that knew the band well. Monica Lauer and Linda Chadwick are like family to them.

For those that might not know, Monica and Linda both became friends in the Hollywood era. Monica sang the little girl's voice for the "mommy, where's daddy" bit on "Ballad Of Dwight Fry." Linda and Cindy had an apartment on Santa Monica Boulevard and they both worked at the Inside Outside Boutique that Joe Greenberg and Shep Gordon frequented. Linda was 15 and Cin was 19.
