Has the thought of reworking any of the tracks with Alice on vocals ever been kicked around ?

That would be up to Alice and Bob Ezrin. "Battle Axe" into "Winner" would be cool.

Rock n Roll Radio with an Alice vocal would be epic. This song has hit written all over it. Am I correct in saying the master tapes are lost?

Years ago, we tried to buy the masters but Polydor wanted too much. I don't know if they still exist.

Too bad about that...I enjoyed BA very much when I got it in 1977. It was so good seeing and hearing the three of You again!

Battle Axe is one of my favorite post AC albums I still play. I've seen photos of those few performances but is there any film of these concerts?

Unfortunately, I've never heard of any film of the Battle Axe show. If we hadn't spent so much of our own personal money, and if we could have done more than four shows, we probably would have had it filmed.

Michael has claimed there was an issue regarding the mastering of the album that caused the stylus to jump. Is this true? I have a German Polydor copy and the quality is terrific.

Upon hearing reports of the needle jumping, it was mistakenly assumed that it was due to the mix, and so we paid Jack Richardson to remix the album. As it turned out, the defective albums only existed on copies that were pressed at one of four different pressing plants. But by then, it was so far beyond regaining lost momentum, that I'm not even sure if Jack's mixes were used. It was a very expensive error.
The best quality I've heard was the 12" promo copy, which had about 5 songs and the sound was superior to the actual album.

Thanks for clearing that up! I'm wondering if there are maybe two mixes out there. Not sure how we would find out unless someone has multiple copies from either different countries or plants and they could compare them.

I don't know if they are out there, but there were two mixes of the album.

Thanks, Dr. D!
I just checked & I do have the 12" promo. You're right, now that I think about it. I prefer to play that over the Lp.
Do you have an idea of how many Promo's were pressed?

I don't know how many were pressed. They were shipped to radio stations, which suggests it was more than a few.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer so many questions!
Are you thinking about another book?
Does what we're asking inspire you to think about it?
You Rock!

I haven't thought about writing another book. My writing has turned back to music for now.

I’ve got the 12”, 5 song promo and also the 12” white label promo full album. The mixes are different, and better than the retail album.

Yes, we paid Jack Richardson to remix the album but it was too late - we had lost our momentum.

I have never heard the Battleaxe album. Do you guys own the rights to it? has a reissue recently ever been considered (people like rock candy records seem to do well re-releasing albums like this)
