Glen’s secret harmonics on schools out
If you isolate the guitar on schools out you can hear Glen playing harmonics on the bridge of the song. It is a magical experience, it’s a revelation about Glen that has been secret all theses years. They must have gotten drowned out in the mix by the rhythm guitar on the album because I have never ...

Fields of Regret
Has anyone else noticed that the is a part in the song Fields of Regret on Pretties for You, issued 1969, that almost sounds like a precursor to rap music?

If the band really was collectively know as Alice Cooper
If the band was really collectively know as Alice Cooper why wasn't Vicent Furnier credited on Pretties for You. It appears that very early on Vicent assumed the name Alice. I have never seen any evidence to the contrary.

Re: March 25 1967 Concord Armory, Concord CA
For what it is worth, this is the original article. March 25, 1967 Concord Armory, Concord, CA: Sir Douglas Quintet/The Spiders/Little Jimmie and The Goodtimers Doug Sahm had been exiled to San Francisco due to an untimely pot bust in March, 1966. Possession of marijuana was a serious crime in Texas...

March 25 1967 Concord Armory, Concord CA
The Spiders played the Concord Armory, which is close to my home. Never knew they once held concerts there. A local rock historian states that the Spiders were a local band that inspired members of the Tower of Power. That contradicts this site and others are under the impression it was Alice Cooper...

Re: Can alice still shock?
Nowadays, it's hard to shock. the local barista with the enlonged ear lobes, nose rings, neck tattoo and spiky hair makes Alice seem pretty tames

Re: Why BBB did not work out
After Lace and Whiskey I stopped buying Alice Cooper albums. Some of his music "gotta dance" and "no more love at your convenience" were blatantly hostile to his originally fan base.

Why BBB did not work out
1) Michael Bruce vocally is no Alice Cooper. They should have hired a charismatic frontman who could sing. 2) They may have underestimated Alice's abilities as a lyricist. The lyrics on Battle Axe lacked a cleverness, an originality, and even the ambiguity that were found on earlier Alice Cooper rel...

Re: Top 20 Alice Cooper Songs by the Original Lineup
1) Second Coming, Ballad of Dwight Fry & Sun Arise played as a suite. 2) My Stars-- Alice's first unofficial solo song. Wangners guitar is sublime. 3) Hello Hurray 4) Return of the Spiders. -- Like Halo of Flies this song really show cases the bands. Alice takes ownership of his vocal style in this ...

Re: Alice & Bowie
I think both acts evolved independently. In the sixties Bowie was doing gigs as a mime. His interest in theatrics was well established before Alice Cooper even was a blimp on the radar. A combination of Angela Bowie and Mick Ronson coming in to David's life did more to elevated his career than any o...

Re: What they should have done.
Exactly, I agree 100%. If I were them I would be fighting it. Dennis and the others stress throughout the years that it was the Alice Cooper Band--and yet to my knowledge they have never fought for the right to use the name. Seems like some lawyer would be glad to help them pro bono. Tutti amici, pa...

What they should have done.
The first mistake that the Billion Dollar Babies made was not replacing Alice with a frontman. While many argue that Alice and others may have underestimated the contributions of Michael, Glen, Dennis and Bruce. Those who regrouped may have overestimated their contribution and minimized the role tha...

Re: My Stars, the beginning of the end
It's obvious that Mike and Glenn didn't have a problem with using other guitarists It is had to defy human nature and emotion why do you think Glenn would not feel the jealousy and fears of a natural man. The parade of hire guitarist coming in to the studio must have put Glen understand great stres...

My Stars, the beginning of the end
My Stars, released on the Schools Out Album was perhaps the epiphany and validation rolled in to one to Alice, Bob Ezrin, and Dick Wagner that Alice as a solo Artist didn't need the band. During the Love to Death session Bob became aware of the the limitations of the band's musical abilities. Musica...
