Completely missed this last year but just listened to Saxon's cover of From the Inside.
Not bad at all!

Re: The Beginning of the Comeback of Alice Cooper (1986)
86 was a great year for me. I had seen Alice twist and turn in style over the previous years and achieve less and less success each time. I had heard he was done in his career and had been worried about his health since I’d heard some stories from friends in the US about a year earlier. I didn’t exp...

Re: Happy new year 2024
Happy New Year. Hoping to go to two of the festival shows if I can convince my wife to do a bit of a road trip. Albi and Pordenone look like the favourites just now. South of France and Venice area in summer should sell well with her, I hope. I’ll happily take any new music and have made a New Year ...

Re: The 'Secret' Next Album
Yup, I was at the Glasgow show, and it was magical to see the original band come out for that mini set. I cant see much more than that in the future. I'm sure Dunaway and Smith could handle it. Not so sure about Bruce. His weight seems to fluctuate. As for the proposed album, give us a couple of ep...

Re: The 'Secret' Next Album
Would love to see Rick Rubin do an EP with them, if that works then an album. Alice sounds too polished solo and on the few group songs, things need changed up at the production end. I completly agree on this. Nice idea but I’m guessing financially impossible unless he effectively gave his time che...

Re: The Marketing of Alice Cooper
I know the back story and I actually think we are agreeing on most things but am just disagreeing on the “accepting your lot” point. Alice clearly wanted to move on in the 70s but got the direction and timing wrong in my mind. He then lost himself and nearly his family, in drink and drugs. When he f...

Re: Screaming Lord Sutch on Alice Cooper
Enjoying a bit of research here and found a bit more which would put Screaming Lord Sutch much closer to Alice than you’d have thought. A quote from Nick Simper of Deep Purple about being at the Playboy After Dark TV show in Oct 1968. “It was here that Ritchie and I were reunited with our old boss, ...

Re: Screaming Lord Sutch on Alice Cooper
Sutch recorded his first album in 1969 in Hollywood. Jimmy Paige was heavily involved in the recording and Led Zeppelin were playing the Whiskey A Go Go with ACG and hanging with them sometimes as well at that time. The album cracked the US top 100 and must have got some visibility in the local scen...

Re: The Marketing of Alice Cooper
“The early 80s albums along with Dada to me are Alice at his creative best and a glimpse of what may have been should his fans have been more open minded.“ ..and if Alice had carried on with the drink and drugs? Perhaps creative but made in a haze so very possibly never capable of being recreated or...

Re: The Marketing of Alice Cooper
Not disagreeing with anything said her but just want to add a couple of thoughts/questions. Did the bad boys image of the band actually hinder longer term visibility and success? Did trying to go MOR with the ballads cause confusion as to what type of act Alice actually was? Did the drink and drugs ...

Re: Alice's Band Mates: An Appreciation
I’m enjoying Crossbone Skully. Lots of AC/DC in there plus a fair bit of love for a whole range of bands, including Def Leppard. Nothing ground breaking but it’s engaging, has energy and it’s strong overall for me. Is that not the thing about Tommy though? Very enthusiastic, very capable, likeable p...

Just to be different - a road theme.
A mash up with Long way to go and 100 more miles.

Re: Alice's Band Mates: An Appreciation
So far, from the current band we have mentioned Nita, Ryan, Chuck and Glen but no Tommy. Interesting that he seems to have really got into the fabric of Alice’s world but isn’t mentioned, either as a player or contributor.

Re: More stats anyone?
I haven't used the platform in a while, but back when I did, iTunes was used to buy songs and play local files. Is this still the case, or has it been integrated into other Apple platforms? I notice there's a different list of stats for Apple, which I assumed was for their streaming platform (Apple...

Re: More stats anyone?
Don’t argue with any of that and would add a few more thoughts. It’s increasingly possible to drill down on most of the stats to link to other activities such as tours, radio play, commercials tv appearances etc. it’s patchy for most acts still but it’s getting better by the week. Not sure which cha...

Re: What album best represents the full catalogue?
My initial thought was that it is impossible but when pushed into a corner B$B became the obvious choice. Other than the blackout albums I see links and themes from here to all other parts of the catalogue. IMO, there isn’t actually an album (including live or compilation) which genuinely represents...

What album best represents the full catalogue?
I was asked yesterday that if only one album could be put forward as best representing the full catalogue of Alice Cooper what would it be. I wasn’t allowed to use live or compilation albums. My favourite for years has been School’s Out and I have WTMN and Killer in my current top three and the othe...

Re: Constrictor & AI
Absolutely doable, the tools have been there for a few years already. Just needs the desire and some time and money. Synthtopia is one of the tools but there are several others out there and they are being improved all the time. And AI is already being used to suggest ‘updates’ to old books into mod...
