Re: The Alice Cooper album of the Day: MUSCLE OF LOVE

Individual tracks wise, the only two tracks I am not keen on are MWTGG and Woman Machine. Since Woman Machine Machine closed the album it seemed to me to be a rather flat ending. However, the other tracks really stand the test of time for me.

Old Grey Whistle Test 1978

At the very beginning of the above clip there is a mention of an interview with Alice by Bob Harris- can anyone supply a link to interview?

Jim Kerr mentions Alice as an influence

I was watching one of the BBC offshoot channels (accessed via text) on UK tv this morning showing a Simple Minds acoustic show. Near the end Jim Kerr mentioned Roxy Music, Bowie, Alice Cooper and The Who as influences- also mentioned Steve Harley in same way and introduced him to play Make me Smile....

Re: Neal Smith Video and Movie

I can never understand why people waste so much time on something that is obviously without any merit at all. It looks so amateurish and cheap that I doubt many people would be able to watch it from start to finish. Here's another clip that is astonishingly bad on every level. https://www.youtube.c...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgBHSCKsBis&feature=youtu.be Yikes! The song is not up to much and the movie looks like a bad (sic) episode of Walker Texas Ranger.[/quote When this was first posted I watched about 1 minute of it and turned it off. However, I find if one watches the...

Re: What Was The First Alice Cooper Album and Single You Bou

The first Alice album I bought was Schools out when it came out but I had LITD and Killer on extended loan before that- Singles hmm- I might have only bought my first Alice single in 1982- the 12 inch "Who Do you think we are" with Live Radio Clyde recording from Glasgow Apollo 82 show (which I was ...

Re: Bob Ezrin - Still worthy?

Andy, I think you are correct about the vicious circle of low sales/no tour. I also think the decision not to tour the UK with Billion Dollar Babies did Alice Cooper the group and then solo a bit of damage to UK album sales subsequently. Sales of MOL were low and even Welcome didn't sell that well (...

Re: Bob Ezrin - Still worthy?

Guttertrash- you mention that Alice had a "hard time crossing the pond" from 76 to 80 and I think this applies to sales figures and literally coming to the UK and Europe to tour- If Alice had crossed the pond to tour on the back of Lace and Whiskey with some tracks from ACGTH and Welcome, I think he...

I don't know for sure.
Thanks anyway- would you think "It's hot tonight" was a good bet to have been a leftover?

Re: Bob Ezrin - Still worthy?

If we are discussing ACGTH, sales expectations would have changed when it was decided not to tour the album (ill health I believe). I think the idea ( if I remember correctly) of having a double level stage with Alice descending into Hell would have resulted in a great show. In addition, such a show...

Re: Bob Ezrin - Still worthy?

Agree that there were some bad songs on ACGTH and Lace and W. I have never taken Damned if you Do seriously (after first hearing anyway) but felt that its inclusion at that point in that album was a serious mistake. However, even Damned if you Do, if given a different musical treatment, may have fit...

Re: Bob Ezrin - Still worthy?

I suppose some of this discussion on cohesion relates to whether one likes an album to flow musically- I still stick a CD album in (old school I know) and want it to flow. Something like Lace and W, for example, changes style and jars me with UbangI Stomp and Damned if you Do. I think Ghouls Gone Wi...

Re: Bob Ezrin - Still worthy?

I think it's time to move on from Bob Ezrin. The strengths of working together no longer outweigh the weaknesses and this was demonstrated on W2MN. Alice and Bob get too distracted trying to be light-hearted and funny, to the detriment of the material. Also, they do not put out cohesive musical alb...

Re: Alice writing with Mike, Neal, Den.

I am happy for the band doing three songs but wish it was a full album. As someone said at least we would have a uniform sound. I am tired of too many guest musicians and too many guitarists on one song. I hope for no more comedy songs too. Not happy with band doing 3 songs but better than nothing-...

Re: Alice writing with Mike, Neal, Den.

Good news- I think there was bad blood at one time- evidenced by MB's No More Nr Nice Guy ist edition book and there have been a few acidic comments towards Alice but that is the past. On the subject of Bob Ezrin's involvement if not him who as producer Desmond Child, Foster? lol (I would go for Jac...

Very strange result. I can`t see it likely any youngsters know who Patti Smith is, certainly over here.
Probably thought Patti was the lead singer of the Smiths
