Re: A Paranormal Evening at The Olympia

It sounds great. Everything is great in execution, and the band shows that they can play every era well, but Pain is the only song that gave me any interest in the album. Paranoiac Personality is definitely the low point to me as it plods along and sounds as uninteresting to me as the album version....

Re: Sorry,....Hollywood Vampires....

Nita Strauss at the end of an Alice show always gets the second loudest response from fans (right next to Alice of course). She is a tremendous talent that has added so much to Alice's band in my opinion. I was recently having a discussion with a group of people who spent as much time talking about...

Re: Sorry,....Hollywood Vampires....

First, let me say anything the great Nita Strauss is involved in, I am buying. I can't wait for her solo album and I love what she has brought to Alice's band and I hope they do an album together as I miss the soaring guitar solos, etc. I don't have a ton of interest in the Hollywood Vampires proje...

Re: Sorry,....Hollywood Vampires....

I’m not a fan of the covers show, and I wouldn’t buy the album or go to the show as it is. If they stick to playing mostly cover, I will definitely still continue to stay away. I have no desire to watch a cover band even if it is made up of two of my favorite musicians. It just doesn’t intersst me n...

Re: another 3 new color vinyl reissues

Dear god! some people on here are the voice of doom!!! Lots of Alice albums being re-released with a bit of fan fare and the group of people who should be happy about it are doing the usual griping!!! I've bought LTD, WTMN, and SF. My black vinyl copies had scratches and jumps! I've never had TLT o...

Re: another 3 new color vinyl reissues

So many special and limited editions that nothing seems special or limited anymore. The most special thing that could happen is to press some black vinyl considering that it holds up better and has less chance of having issues in general than colored vinyl. I'm worn out with this vinyl explosion an...

Re: I still think Paranormal is mediocre........

Ezrin apparently thought it made more sense to ripoff the likes of Jimi Hendrix, ZZ Top, and other classic rockers than create an album that actually sounds like Alice Cooper. I'm really not getting the bob ezrin hate here. He seems to pull the better stuff out of alice recently in my opinion. I kn...

Re: I still think Paranormal is mediocre........

I forgot about that, what happened to the whole killer vibe he was talking about in interviews, is there a whole raft of other songs sitting there to be finished? not sure I have seen him mention it since Ezrin apparently thought it made more sense to ripoff the likes of Jimi Hendrix, ZZ Top, and o...

Re: Ryan Roxie: "This is Alice's most cohesive band"

I just feel like you are basing attributions of the band of that era on things that are not comparable to the current lineup. Alice has decided to not play the older material like it was played in the 80s, and I don't feel like that is due to Ryan Roxie not being able to play it. You can always find...

Re: Ryan Roxie: "This is Alice's most cohesive band"

Cohesive band is a loaded statement if ever I heard it but I think this. Alice had several great live bands, I personally think outside of the original unit (which obviously started out as close as anyone can get and quickly dissolved ) I think the 86/88 years were the best. The band leader was kan...

Re: I still think Paranormal is mediocre........

I think the first half has some decent stuff, the second half sounds like it falls apart (Although I really like Private Public Breakdown.) I think a couple of issues here are that Alice doesn't seem to have a real song-writing partner anymore (I know you could argue Bob Ezrin is, but how much is A...

Re: I still think Paranormal is mediocre........

You And All Your Friends, The Sound Of A, and Fireball are all great compositions (Dennis creates some great blueprints to build a song on). Tommy also brought a classic Alice vibe with Rats. Glad that it features the guys. Sadly I don't care to listen to any of them due to way too much low-end and ...

Re: I still think Paranormal is mediocre........

I think the last two Alice albums have been ho-hum; plus HVs was crap. They're a mish mash of superfluous guests; a handful of great songs, derailed by another handful of 'goofy' nonentities; slick, yet soulless. Why not use ACG, or the touring band, for a whole album? At least that would lend some...

Re: Ryan Roxie: "This is Alice's most cohesive band"

I wonder if the other members prefer to have their own projects or if they would rather work with Alice full-time and just have the projects since they are not writing and recording with Alice and also have downtime sometimes since Alice is doing the HV shows. It was originally mentioned that the W...

Re: Ryan Roxie: "This is Alice's most cohesive band"

Chuck, Keri Kelli and Damon Johnson did get some co-writes on Along Came a Spider and Chuck co-wrote the bonus track "A Bad Situation" on W2MN, but yeah I agree that it's a shame that the live band doesn't get used in the writing process or even just in the studio more at the moment. Maybe live is ...

Re: Ryan Roxie: "This is Alice's most cohesive band"

I had not read the article. I just saw the thread, but yes, I completely agree that this band is his best solo band by far. I wish they were given the opportunity to write and record an album together. It saddens me that Chuck and Ryan have not been a part of the writing process since Dirty Diamonds.

Re: Ryan Roxie: "This is Alice's most cohesive band"

Versatility wise, this is most definitely the most cohesive lineup. Creativity wise, the ACG is head and shoulders above all the rest. I'm glad that Alice has stripped most of the over-playing that was done from the Wagner/Hunter-era through the Kane, Pete Friesen, Reb Beach eras away in general fro...

Re: Tour 2018!

I honestly don’t think the lack of surprise or set change will influenced ticket sales either. Motley Crue, Kiss, and many other bands have or had the same complaints from diehard fans, but at the end of the day, they still have a ton of people go to their shows. Shows larger than wha Alice generall...
