Re: Rotating Stage ***SPOILER ALERT***Michael Allen’s Book

I did not know that about Bill Chadwick being with Iron Butterfly. I thought he was spent a lot of time with the Monkees. You're right, Bill was with the Monkees throughout their career. He just did an autograph signing event with Mickey. Bill did, however, work with other artists like Donovan. He ...

Re: Rotating Stage ***SPOILER ALERT***Michael Allen’s Book

Mike, we didn't realize it during the show but it being our big return to Phoenix overshadowed any technical difficulties. As I recall, the crowd loved us more than ever. A little detail - Cindy's best friend, Linda, who worked at the Inside Outside boutique in Hollywood when Cindy asked Joe and She...

Everyone should have an Alice cooper ringtone. “Under my wheels” is the most obvious one ha!
At one point, I heard an "Under My Wheels" ringtone but the AC touring band had re-recorded the song.

Re: The Sensational Alex Harvey Band

Thanks for the link. I hadn't heard this before.
They made it their own while maintaining a rebellious attitude and I'm sure GB would have liked the nasty guitar tone.

Re: Rotating Stage ***SPOILER ALERT***Michael Allen’s Book

I don't think my account of that show made the final edit in my book. That was the second time we performed on a rotating round stage. The first time was when we were in Bye Bye Birdie at the Celebrity Theater in Phoenix in 1966 - we played that same stage again in 2017 for Alice's Christmas Pudding...

Re: "SO" and "Killer" Expanded editions

I'm still waiting for my albums to arrive. Of course, I like hearing that the bass is a bit more prominent. I seem to recall that Bob had t-shirts made for each of us - mine said MORE BASS and Neal's said MORE DRUMS etc. jokingly signaling us to save our breath and be quiet during the mixes. I'm esp...

I knew there was one other track that had “ elected “ shoe horned in so to speak. Hey if anyone can do it, it’s you.
I used the "Elected" intro snippet hoping it would let people know that that track was the original Coops.

Re: Have to ask….

It would be a lot cooler had it not been used as a novelty on “ genuine American girl “ on the paranormal album! Maybe it’s just that it’s such a good part it bears re doing every now and again. I’m sure paying tribute to you is important to them as well. Thanks for your thoughts Dennis. I forgot t...

Re: "SO" and "Killer" Expanded editions

Now that these are out, curious if you had any surprises when hearing these again? The alternative takes are a revelation. They give a glimpse at the experimentation that was happening. Personally speaking, I think that you guys were truly on a different level than your contemporaries. I'm still wa...

Re: Have to ask….

I'm sure it will go over fine in live shows. And I'm glad the touring band got to record an album together.
Upon first listen, I was distracted thinking about lyrics I would have written.
I'm not sure if the descending bass outro was a tribute to me but I'll take it.

Re: The Sensational Alex Harvey Band

All I know about them is that tons of people respect them. I have some catching up to do. As far as jumping the pond, I'd say that has to do with management. Our association with Zappa helped us with that, but our managers Joe Greenberg and Shep Gordon arranged for a truck with a billboard picture o...

Re: Michael J. Fox documentary

I haven't seen it yet, either. I was saddened by a recent New York Post article that said - Michael J. Fox revealed that he “can't even remember dating” The Bangles guitarist Susanna Hoffs back in the 80s. I believe his ability to be believable in his roles is due to his honesty as a person. Here's ...

Re: School's Out album cover

The front and the back covers of LITD were done the same afternoon.
Photographer Roger Prigent (a colleague of Richard Avedon who later photographed the band) had a spotlight mounted on a ladder for the front cover then they set up full lighting for the back. Neal is sitting on a mirrored stand.

Re: Bass question

It's always been "every possibility" for me. Sometimes I follow the groove of the chords, then perhaps a counter melody to the vocal, which is always the most important thing to support, then I might lock into the bass drum and pick up on the drum fills, which is often the way to go when you're stra...

Re: Easy Action rehearsal tapes?

All of the songs on Easy Action are the studio recordings.

Perhaps you, or Shep, meant the Pretties For You sessions when Zappa recorded some of the songs while we were warming up.

Re: Setlist after the release of Eighteen in November 1970?

My memory seems vivid on certain things and vague, or even void, on others. We are talking about half a century ago. So take this as a best effort and not gospel. At that time Alice Cooper were still an opening act restricted to shorter sets. Love it To Death had so many good songs on it that it dom...

Re: Bass question

I pretty much only use my fingers when I drop my pick. It's not that I think a pick is better. You can get a fuller sound with more sustain with fingers, but a nylon pick and mid-range growl are my personal sound. I usually play Jazz basses which have narrower necks than p-basses. I'm not sure that ...

Re: Mysterious voice on "You Drive Me Nervous"

Yes, it was our sound man Artie King. He had a natural deep voice that seemed to vibrate the rafters when he barked out orders to the road crew. The concept was inspired by Eddie Cochran's "Summertime Blues" where the voices of authority are low timbered. Artie mixed sound for several tours includin...

Re: Bootlegs!!

In the analog days of recording, the vast majority of acts did all they could to prevent people from recording at concerts, and to curtail rehearsal tapes and studio outtakes from leaking, although there were bands like the Grateful Dead and Metallica (I think) that encouraged it and it greatly buil...

Do you think there’s any possibility of any of the other albums receiving a similar treatment?
Over the years, there has been insider news of releases that didn't happen so I'm reluctant to say.
I'm pretty sure the success of these releases will determine the value of other releases.
