And I don't really get Bob's take on doing My Stars...
Shep's. NOT Bob.
Okay, okay, you don't have to yell ;) Sorry Bob n' Shep, for getting members of the brain trust mixed up.

Re: Alice's Band Mates: An Appreciation

I adored the Astroturf show, and if the OG got together for a few shows in smaller, mid-sized venues, a more intimate setting, I'd love that, I could die a happy man seeing that. As for the set list, he wouldn't lose me "just" because he left out some songs that have been played to death live. And u...

Re: Alice's Band Mates: An Appreciation

Welp, were getting lost in the weeds with some of this... Otherwise, I've enjoyed the reads when it comes to the musicians. A nice offshoot of the thread is that I'm going off and reading up on, and listening to tracks, and focusing on the player mentioned, what they brought to the table, what was d...

thanks so much for the reply, appreciate it. I have the book and love it, but it seems my old man's memory failed me on that detail.

Re: Alice's Band Mates: An Appreciation

Revisited Paranormal, to really focus on the drums and Mullen's play, and yeah, still think he's fantastic (Paranoiac Personality was impressive, don't know how you can hit the drums any harder than that). Saying that, Neal's the ultimate in my Alice world, so I'd have had zero complaints had he bee...

Re: Alice's Band Mates: An Appreciation

Yeah, I remember producers I worked with mulling over which players to bring in, who was the best fit for the style of music being recorded. "I have so and so, who's good with this kind of lead guitar, or whatsit, who's better with that..." type of thing. So, it's a factor. Though I always wondered ...

Re: Alice's Band Mates: An Appreciation

I won't claim to be drum expert (I can keep a beat for my demos and that's about it), but as a musician (guitar and bass) whose played with a lot of drummers over my life on stage and in the studio and have developed an ear for what works and doesn't, I have to say I didn't hear anything awful about...

Re: Alice's Band Mates: An Appreciation

Drummers? We've talked about Ken Mary and mentioned Glen Sobel (who made Drum Magazines top 60) but who else? Neal Smith of course, that goes without saying, though he doesn't get any respect in the articles and lists I've read, he didn't even make a 'Top 50 Drummers in the HOF' list I looked over.....

Re: Screaming Lord Sutch on Alice Cooper

I'd never heard of him until just now. Knew Arthur and Jay, but not Lord Sutch. Gave Ripper a listen, never heard it before today and I was a kid who had the radio on constantly in the early 70s. It is interesting to read his thoughts on Alice, reminds me some of things Cooper said of those who came...

Question about Fireball, and your birthplace

Hi Dennis, a couple questions. I have family who live in Oregon, I lived there as well a few times. And as a big fan of Buster Keaton and the movie The General , I was aware of that being filmed in your birthplace, Cottage Grove (cool connection, one of my favorite comedic actors, and one favorite b...

Re: Alice's Band Mates: An Appreciation

I'm not sure who my favorite lead guitarist is, probably Glen. I like rock that's a little dirty, not always clean and perfect, and while the ACG got slicker with each album, the original core players still had that rough, raw edge to them, even though they could play like pros (Dennis is one of my ...

Re: Alice's Band Mates: An Appreciation

See, now I like how Orianthi is all business on stage, she'll do a move, a gesture, but she lets the guitar do the speaking, (so to speak), lets that be the energy. I know that Alice is about big stage personas, but a guitarist, being cool, doing their thing, is nice for a change of pace. Nita, for ...

So to begin... I was watching Monday Night Football, and hey, there's Orianthi in the owner's suite, watching the game (she also posted pics at her Instagram page). I guess viewers were curious who she was. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/mark-davis-stirs-buzz-with-blonde-musician-orianthi-at...

Alice's Band Mates: An Appreciation

So there was a brief anti-Nita thread due to the Nita debate in the Road Reviews thread, but why not expand that (and give it a positive spin), and have a general catch-all to talk about every one of those talented folks who have backed frontman Alice over the decades? (Original group members too) I...

Re: Alice Cooper Comic Coming in Oct

First issue is out. It's been a while since I stepped into a comic book shop, and it was nice to see the place, and the cashier who worked back then is still there. There's one review posted at Comic Book Roundup (maybe more to come)... https://comicbookroundup.com/comic-books/reviews/dynamite-enter...

Re: "Road" - Reviews

W2MN was amazing, It has a few bad songs on it. Yeah, the 2 back-to-back novelty songs -Disco/Ghouls- are m'eh, (I'd rather have had "Under the Bed") but there are no out-and-out bad songs for me, nothing I skip. And there are so many songs that knock my socks off, I mean, it's one of those albums ...

Re: "Road" - Reviews

Silly lyrics I can handle, dumb fun, okay, I've enjoyed many like that. But lyrics and make me wince, that cause my shoulders bend and make me want to fold up and disappear because they are so God awful, nope. And that's what I feel listening to Big Boots and Rules of the Road . And I might be able ...

Re: How many times have you seen an Alice concert?

I saw Stevie Nicks at Starwood in 2001, she was good, but what I remember of the venue was the sucky access to get there. That long drive on a little road. So, they shut that down? The land was sold to a developer in early 2007---Rush announced their tour would open in Nashville, and like a week la...

Re: How many times have you seen an Alice concert?

I actually used to go to concerts somewhat regularly. This was back in the 90s. I don't live too far from Nashville, but for a long time the main venue for concerts was an outdoor place called Starwood. It really sucked. Bad sound and bad crowds. I saw a lot of bands that would normally have been g...
