Re: Hey Stoopid Opinions?

It has some good material on it but is one of those albums that would benefit by dropping some tracks. Ditch Little By Little, Hurricane Years, Die for You and Dirty Dreams, add It Rain All Night and you have a better album. Since I'm an old timer I still think of albums with "sides" and think the ...

Re: Alice Cooper's DaDa- Albums Unleashed w/Dick Wagner

I think that sometimes a lack of label support, when making an album at least, can be a good thing. Can you imagine what Dada would have sounded like if The Bros. Warner HAD been sending it's mucky-mucks around to the sessions?

Re: Hey Stoopid Opinions?

1. It's more of a transition album than a 'proper' hair metal record. 2. It's better than the preceding trio combined. 3. All but one of the songs are at least pretty good, with some, like 'MAWBOM', 'HS' and WUT' being excellent. ('Dirty Dreams' belongs on 'Trash', as it's utter garbage.) 4. Alice ...

Re: Is it worth recording new albums?

You are aware that most museums, libraries and cultural centers are not set up to earn a profit-but nearly all of these organaziations are able to survive by donations, gifts and endowments by wealthy individuals or corporations. If not by private donations and funding they are funded by government...

Re: AC Make 'Weird' List

Yeah, i would agree - i bought them much later, and b/c I was already an AC fan, and didn't think they were very good, but can now understand them in their context and see them as a bit cooler than I did at the time (and i was always fond of "Levity Ball".) That said, i still don't think they're gre...

Re: Is it worth recording new albums?

The other thing I've been mulling over is whether it's a good thing that you can download single tracks off albums. On one hand, your music is more accessible to the casual fan whereas on the other they may go straight for the hits or the radio friendly tracks. Until the late 1960s, the singles mar...

Re: Is it worth recording new albums?

So what are the conclusions here? For some bands/entertainers no it's not worth releasing new material and for others it is. Good talk folks. It's about the process, not the product... I will be another unpopular one and say i, too, am looking forward to the covers album. If only because ALI...

Re: Is it worth recording new albums?

Just to throw something in, when Alice did the X-FM show, in which bands play a classic album from start to finish, he choose "Greatest Hits" haha It was obvious why. All but, I think, one of the songs (TL74) were already in the show they were playing at the time, or had been in it the year before,...

Re: Is it worth recording new albums?

Apologies to Mr Barlow-I stand corrected. I assumed "Fairytale of New York" was a worldwide hit because of its popularity in Britain and Ireland (perhaps understandably!!)when clearly it isn't. I was thinking of "Fairytale" as their "School's Out", as yes it was in fact huge all over and they had o...

Re: Is it worth recording new albums?

>I'm not sure he has a classic hit album REALLY?! What about "Killer", "School's Out", "Billion Dollar Babies" and "Welcome To My Nightmare"? >(I mean, *I* think there's several, but does Billboard or whoever agree?) Who cares what they think? Well, not me, but somebody trying to book a profitable ...

Re: Is it worth recording new albums?

This debate keeps shifting (as debates do) and it's getting irritating (although that isn't your fault). On the one hand we have people saying he should be playing more new material and on the other, we have people saying he should perform a classic album in its entirety (which, by the way, I can i...

As much as id love alice to come out and play last temptation, welcome 2 my nightmare etc in its entirety im not stupid enough to know the chances are slim to say the least, but i can dream cant i? Re: Is it worth recording new albums?

I would agree with JJ here that I'd rather see the good material in a back catalog mined rather than second rate new material taking up space. But a live performance of a greatest hits package is a bit disappointing. I'm much happier, and i think i speak for most fans, when the more obscure stuff ge...

Re: Is it worth recording new albums?

JJF: Now it only matters if you care that it matters, so if you want to write the stuff because you feel you have a need to express it then you write it and record it. Dee has not written a song in 20 years he has no need to express it and so therefore we do not do it and we do not play enough for ...

Hah, i just got Michael Bruce's live "Halo of Ice" and indeed he throws in a bit of "Suffragette City" at the end there.
