Re: 1981 Special Forces Gig - Colourised

Kiss doesn't even have a "Thrill My Gorilla" moment. Quote of the year. Saw kiss a couple of years ago. They were awful. What the Paul & Gene show? You're kidding! ::((: That's as ridiculous as "The Two" (a co-worker reference for The Who)! :rotfl: These guy's surely ain't touring the "Chitlin' Cir...

Re: 1981 Special Forces Gig - Colourised

I see,you kept your ticket stubs, I don't keep them, I just throw them away. That's a shame, I use mine as a reference for "when & where". I write the opening act on the flip side & they're the hardest to remember. A lot of venues in my area & some Bands tend to tweek their performance between 'Hal...

Maybe we will get the geriatric Alice Bon Jovi. It would be a great visual to Alice in that ridiculous nail jacket and an adult diaper.

I think it's a fascinating period of Alice's career which i'd like to hear more about.
You won't hear much about it from AC himself. That's why it's called the "Blackout Years"
All you will get is 2nd & 3rd hand info. Hopefully, from someone who was sober. :smack:

Re: Jim Morrison

Hey Dennis, With today being the 50th anniversary of the death of Jim Morrison, I was wondering how you and the band reacted on hearing news of his passing. Was it simply 'one of those things', tragic though it was, or did it cause some kind of introspection or re-evalutaion? Thanks Dr. D. I would ...

Re: Pretties for you and beyond

Evening Dr. D, I look (& listen) to Pretties For You & Easy Action as the band learning more about themselves & learning their way around a Studio. When the ACG & Bob Ezrin found each other things started to click into place. Is this an accurate assessment or have I missed Shep's contribution...

Desmond Child posted two pics from Alice today, and he wrote, that Alice and Bob Ezrin visited him a few weeks ago to write some new music together. Exciting.
Maybe, maybe not. ;)
Considering he has some great writers in his touring band & also Bruce, Dunaway & Smith.

I should add that I'm pleased with all of the questions in this forum, and I don't mind if some of them are a bit edgy.
Wasn't the ACG a bit "edgy" in the first place? :/
Thanks for all of your contributions Dr. D.

Alice crossed the line when he covered David Bowie who disliked Alice.
Even now, I can't face the reality...
What about respect for the recently passed Bowie (at that time)?
Sounds like a very Christian thing to do.

Re: Phil X talks about and demonstrates some of his guitar playing on the Brutal Planet album

I don't think the recording or writing of Brutal Planet would have been improved much had they all been in the room at the same time. That kind of 'industrial' nu-metal needed to be quite 'cold' in it's execution anyway. The same can't be said of Along Came a Spider though (in my opinion). I felt t...

Re: Phil X talks about and demonstrates some of his guitar playing on the Brutal Planet album

If Alice was there I am sure he would have went "yeah i like it lets use it". The fact he was not there, had he not liked it, I am sure he would asked for it to be redone....However it was recorded it is one of his stongest solo albums imo. Pretty sure a lot of band record like that, Motley Crue co...

Re: Albums As Works of Art

A side note about this: when I made the switch to CDs back in the '80s, I discovered after a while that I no longer knew the names of all of the songs on most albums. I used to know every title from every album because I spent hours and hours looking at the album cover, studying the album cover, me...

Re: Songs where Alice may have crossed the line

I believe Michael Bruce stated in his book - which I have - that the idea for the song Dead Babies came from a real life incident when a baby died after ingesting something they shouldn't have, but it wasn't aspirin as stated in the song. In at least one live version of the song from that time peri...

Re: Elected mix

Hi Dennis, I always wondered, why did you guys decide to mix the vocals on "Elected" in the left channel only. In fact, I noticed a lot of different separation between different instruments in both channels. I'm sure that was Bob Ezrin's decision and he likely thought it helped the lead vocals cut ...
