Re: Canceled Tour

There very well might have been some other bands that were releasing 2 albums per year, but we were doing that plus developing 2 new stage shows per year. That is until we had so many gigs that keeping the quality up while we were all exhausted began to show the strain and limitations of too much we...

I don't recall that photo session but if I had a nickel for every time I heard someone say, where's Michael?, I would be a billionaire.

Re: Secret pictures!

I think things have changed concerning behind-the-scenes photos. When bands hung out in the 60's and 70's, they wanted a break from the spotlight. If you wanted to be an "insider" you had to honor the unspoken code that it just wasn't cool to take photos. Our longtime friend Dave Cluett, who was a p...

Re: Gene Vincent & Jim Morrison

When we backed up Gene Vincent, the timing couldn't have been worse. We had just finished our set so we were out of breath and the stage had been splattered with watermelon juice and there were feathers sticking to everything, including us. Our feather storm and the demise of our pet chicken had lef...

Re: Alice At The Palace

If you search Alice at The Palace, you'll find insights on this site. Broadway theaters need butts in every seat every night for a show to survive. Neil Diamond managed to pull off a Broadway Theater concert show in '72 but he had lots of mainstream hits and a safe image. But because of our controve...

I don't recall Leo bringing Sherilyn on the road with us. He did bring his daughter from his second marriage to a couple of shows.

Re: The Decline of Western Civilization Part II

I guess I haven't seen this film. If I have, I don't remember it. I'm pretty sure that this is the first time I've heard this version of Wheels. I like it. It maintains the swing R&R feel and the energy. It's great to hear other musicians covering my songs. The Foo Fighters played Wheels in their se...

Re: Subway -> Runaway Train

I had sent a copy of Bones From The Yard to Alice and "Subway" was his favorite track. He played it on his Nights With Alice Cooper show. He said the rhythmic groove reminded him of the Yardbirds. He decided it should be on the Paranormal album. The new melody and lyrics were all his. The recording ...

Re: Love it to Death album cover

Alice wrote the album title, likely in one or two tries. The thumb wasn't planned, and even though we liked the publicity it evoked, it did cause problems getting the record into stores. The time it took to censor the cover hurt sales. Our clear stage clothes was the band's idea but Joe and Shep di...

Hello! And thank You so very much for the replies Dennis. Great to get Your memories/input on those rare old songs. Sorry about the bringing You the feeling of "homework". I just thought it was better to collect all the questions around the same subject, than scatter them in several different threa...

Re: The Airline Pocket Bass

I like to say my Airline bass barely survived an explosion in a psychedelic factory. I wrote in my book Snakes! Guillotines! Electric Chairs!: My Adventures in The Alice Cooper Group that the Airline was smashed when the band's overloaded van rolled three times on the San Bernardino freeway with the...

Re: Songs to play

Well, I must say, all of You do the songs justice  ! Forgot to ask this the other day  , while listening to BDS LIVE IN PARIS, we were getting into "The Jokes On You", but having played SECRET TREATIES beforehand, noticed that line is in "Flaming Telepaths". Was it supposed to be an "I...

Re: Pre ACG/Early ACG songs, etc...

"Frontal Lobotomy" is what Glen called a scorching riff he had come up with. He and I worked on it at the Galesi Estate. When the rest of the guys heard what we had done, they started suggesting changes and the song morphed into "Never Been Sold Before" and Glen's killer riff wasn't even used. Than...

Re: Songs to play

I enjoy playing BÖC songs, especially since there are always appreciative fans in the Blue Coupe audiences. My favorite is "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" because it's such an infectious riff and powerfully haunting song. Joe and Al do a great job with the Alice Cooper songs. We've even tackled "Fireball"...

Re: Everything's Orange?

I recall a single mention of "Everything's Orange" as the title of a very early (The Spiders?) song. Dennis, if there's any information on that song, I'd appreciate it much. (Maybe one of my fellow Sickthings could win a coloring book!) :) Thanks I only remember the melody and psychedelic feel of t...

Re: Solo Alice

Hi Dennis, 1. I’m curious to how you felt/feel about Alice’s string of ballad singles immediately after the breakup. “Only Women B,” “I Never Cry,” “You & Me,” and “How You Gonna See Me Now?” 2. I always thought the original band would have made a powerful contribution to the From the Inside album....
