Re: BSB 50th anniversary 2cd / 3 lp out in March

Killer and SO were "announced" by DD during an interview published in early 2018. As 'The Life & Crimes...' box once showed us, often times releases can face lengthy delays in coming out.

Re: Double Albums

The ACG was recording and releasing about 2 albums per year and other Groups were only doing one album/year or in some cases one album every 2 years (i.e. The Who, LZ) around that time. So one could argue that the Original Group put out the equivalent of about a double album per year during the 1971...

Re: Alice band members past and present best albums

For me the best albums released by AC band Members are MB's Halo of Ice and Alive and Re-Cooperated: The Second Coming of Michael Bruce. Both albums were recorded live in concert in Iceland w/Michael's Icelandic backing band. I realize that the entire former album and most of the latter album consis...

Re: BSB 50th anniversary 2cd / 3 lp out in March

^^ I too would love to see LITD and MOL DE's released; it's a question of what could/would be added as bonus audio material. The SO DE included a live concert from the Killer Tour, presumably because either a suitable quality show from the SO Tour couldn't be found or the rights to release a quality...

Re: B$B reissue and more?

Re. the 2nd part of S&S's post: I'm not certain if you're aware but MOL was given a Quadraphonic release in the 70's, as was BDB. I've read that the MOL Quad. release wasn't as much of a departure from the original stereo issue of the album as the BDB Quad. release was from the stereo BDB issue, so ...

I thought Michael said that Ezrin wasn't down with that, and that the suggestion/plan was dropped.
I recall Michael saying that a couple of years ago; offhand I can't recall if I've read or heard anything different since then.

Re: The 'Secret' Next Album

^^ Apparently 14 songs were recorded for the album. I'm not certain if all of them will make the shortlist, but if so that does open up a lot of possibilities re. potential guest guitarists.

Re: The 'Secret' Next Album

The album with the OG was recorded some time ago so I would hope that it would be released this year, but yes as Si alluded to, it may not be the next album released. As previously stated above, Alice has other activities planned for 2024, so again it's a waiting game until an official announcement ...

Re: BSB 50th anniversary 2cd / 3 lp out in March

Dennis has said may times that the writing credits didn't always reflect who actually had a part in the given song. For example he has said Glen should have got many more credits then he actually did. True, and Michael Bruce stated more or less the same thing in his book re. the songwriting credits...

Re: BSB 50th anniversary 2cd / 3 lp out in March

I always assumed (wrongly) that "My Stars" was co-written by Wagner using the same arrangement. The song has a very strong Wagner writing influence however it was written by Ezrin with lyrics by Alice. Wagner was paid a few bucks to perform on the track. Apparently Michael Bruce wrote and played th...

Re: BSB 50th anniversary 2cd / 3 lp out in March

I have those also. The DVD Audio, if you can find it, is pricey. But, the sound is awesome! I heard things I never heard before on the recording. Acura cars from 2004 to 2014 had CD players that could accommodate those. Though I haven't played it in quite some time (my DVD Video player no longer wo...

Re: BSB 50th anniversary 2cd / 3 lp out in March

I have the 2001 BDB DE as well as the DVD Audio release. I'll have to wait until the bonus material on this upcoming release is confirmed before I can decide whether it's worth it for me to buy. I still need to buy the Killer and SO DE CDs.

Re: The 'Secret' Next Album

You also can't have the OG band simply playing their own songs, they'd have to learn a few songs from Alice's solo career, or else that simply wouldn't fly either. Firstly, as has been mentioned in this Forum, a full tour by the Original Group almost certainly won't be happening. Alice has been pre...

Re: The 'Secret' Next Album

Here are my responses to VinceRaven's hopes: 1. I'm flexible, but I think I would find a themed album - loose theme or more substantial - to be preferential. 2. Apparently 14 songs were recorded. I don't know if all of them will be included, but I can agree w/VR that 8-10 songs could be the better o...

Re: The Lace and Whiskey Era

Awhile ago I listened to Ubangi Stomp and 2 or 3 other songs on L&W; to me the former song sounded awful but the other songs, while not good weren't as bad as I expected them to be. As an apology has been made, perhaps tuneylune can be given a 'suspended sentence?'

Re: What album best represents the full catalogue?

I think it would be B$B mainly as it sums up the whole point and goal of the band. Alice's solo success was launched from that album as WTMN is the natural follow up to that album. MOL, although a decent album, was a step back both musically and theatrical Listen to B$B and WTMN and it's incredible...

Re: Alice's Band Mates: An Appreciation

I would love to see the originals but could they do a hour and a half show physically? Alice gets his break while the band jams as currently played. Not sure how you could get breaks for the band. Or perhaps a hybrid show with the current band and the originals as they have done previously but this...

I might never have heard of Screaming Lord Sutch if I hadn't become a Deep Purple fan; former DP guitarist Ritchie Blackmore was affiliated w/Sutch in the 60's.
