Not a hit for me. Must listen more often.
Like the original better but I'm a big Lou Reed fan.

Think it would be better suited for a Vampires release. I want original songs from a Alice release.

it's eased my fears a bit. we've had covers on other albums, if it fits w/ the flow i'll generally go for it, and Alice sounds incredible.

It's ok but do we really need it?
Re: Detroit Stories first song "Rock 'N' Roll" to be available Fri 11-13-20
At this point I would rather he fall flat on his face with a new song than another cover. The problem with this song is it is too iconic. Same with a lot of the HV covers. I think there are maybe 8 or 9 new songs on the album which to me is a problem.
I would like him to experiment a bit more rather than fall back on his laurels. It's not like he plays any new stuff live so why not live a little dangerously?

Seems I've enjoyed this less than most here. I've never heard the original, but the song feels lethargic and safe. Alice does something cool with his voice a couple of times, and I liked the guitar solos, but this is a weak opening track. I can't help but feel that if Chuck/Nita/Ryan were involved in the record, it would be heavier and more energetic than this. I'm sure I'll grow to love it, as has been the case with almost everything Alice has done, but I didn't think this track was anything special.
Also, not sure if anyone saw but Apple Music has the song lengths, so it looks like despite being 15 tracks, the album is about 50 minutes. That's a major relief!

In this stage of his carreer I'd rather have a good sounding album- be it covers- than another ACAS e.g. Much work and fantastic pr that didn't work out well afaik...
Alice doesn't have to proof (or to risk..)anything anymore imho..

Honestly, is this the best he can do? Might be time to play more golf.
Anything I say or write is my own personal opinion, no matter who agrees or disagrees with me.

I honestly like Lou's original version I'm not really impressed with this one. But if others like it more power to ya. Now I heard that Neal Smith wrote "Social Debris" and wonder any other titles by the original band? I remember reading they talked about 3 or 4 songs. I wonder how many made it to the final release.

I've listened to it twice now and it's yet another one of those songs that's OK but I have no real interest in returning to. I agree that it's not a strong album opener.
A version of Search and Destroy with his current band could have been a blistering way to begin the record, whilst still being pointless.

As already stated in so many words, I'd rather him make a complete catastrophe of an album than play it safe with boring covers. Of course, I think ZCS is a masterpiece.

I agree with you Padre.
Re: Detroit Stories first song "Rock 'N' Roll" to be available Fri 11-13-20
On first listen I was underwhelmed but on replay I really like the way this track features the Detroit players - much more bass and drums than we've heard in a lot of Ezrin's recent stuff. Bonamassa is a great addition even it doesn't align with the Detroit angle.
It's definitely more true to the Mitch Ryder version but it could still use a little more punch in the vocals and the groove.
I'm interested to hear the rest of it but bummed about the Breadcrumbs cuts. They just felt like throw-aways to me in the original EP. I hope that they've worked to bring those up to snuff. This whole concept feels very similar to "The Eyes of Alice Cooper" and I didn't feel like anything on Breadcrumbs was up to that album - and it's not one of my favorites.

One more pointless cover song...very disappointing. Covers, and the songs from the Breadcrumbs EP...I'm happy for the new Blu-ray...

Ugh, that was a tough listen. I’ll stick to Lou’s “Rock n Roll Animal” version ... in my opinion Hunter and Wagner’s finest hour
Re: Detroit Stories first song "Rock 'N' Roll" to be available Fri 11-13-20
It would be cool to have a deluxe edition. All of the new songs, without the covers

I think the only way to listen to it will be to burn a copy minus the Breadcrumbs songs.
I wonder will there be a deluxe Japanese edition adding the two missing Breadcrumbs song's?
