Hmm but it says the author is “Edwin Van Hoof” at the top of the article.

But good point, it is rather early for a review to be released.

Oh, so it does! I did look but didn't see it under the cover, Sorry.

Still think it's probably fake.
Why would a no-name site have review copies over 6 weeks in advance when no well known sites have posted reviews?
Also if they have the album, they should have the credits as well and have avoided some of the obvious errors re: Tommy playing bass.
They should know Magic Bus is a Who cover.
Surely they would mention the guests on the album like Tom Morrello?
And who writes "The song pulsates like a throbbing vein popping"? or "Floor and rhythm fills propel 'Big Boots', and the bass drones atop the raw guitars with their stretched notes and sturdy riffs."? It just doesn't sound real to me.

Apologies if I may have missed it from a previous post, but Headbanger’s Lifestyle posted a pretty thorough review a couple of weeks ago.
Looks AI generated to me.
Note the reviewer isn't named, and, if as you say it was posted two weeks ago it's very early for an album that is weeks from release. Smells fishy to me.

"Especially Henriksen dominates in the low end and plucks and growls with his wonderful bass melodies. "
I'm wondering if it's a poor translation from his native Dutch. After the album comes out we should be able to tell if he in fact did get a pre release or not based on some of the not so bizarre comments on certain songs.

Is THIS a new image? I have never seen it before. Perhaps it's part of the "Road" press kit?

This link takes you to 30 second samples of all the songs from Road...there is definitely some potential here for sure...loved a LOT of it....

Now I am very optimistic. It sounds like a decent hard rock album. Maybe not his best, but good enough 🙂🫠

Well spotted!
Touch of "Eyes..." maybe?
I'm still optimistic (which I wasn't about DS...)

I love Alice, I wouldn't still be buying the CDs if I didn't, and a 30 second sample is not a lot to go on, but "ouch, my ears!"

I remember when Devo did that sampler thing for their comeback CD, and had fans vote on their favorites. And I could tell right then that this wasn't some tired old group, making tired old music, this was prime Devo. The samples really got me excited for an album that eventually ranked as my 3rd favorite from them.

But that's not happening here, the advanced songs, now this... uhg, my heart sank. That spoken word bit on track 2 made me cringe, Big Boots is awful. And the songwriting sounds pedestrian overall.

I'll hold out hope that it's a grower. Both Paranormal and DS were growers (hell, after the first week, I set Paranormal aside, for years. But when I came back to it, I rather enjoyed it).

But at first blush, color me disappointed.

To be fair it DOES sound better than Detroit Stories and Paranormal, but it's in the same vein as the previous two. And that's a major turn off for me.

I think im done. Alice might be in his twilight/sundown stage of his career but for me everything past 2011 has been a disappointment. Just listening to him now feels like im at a state fair I didn't even agree to go to and the music has no edge or bite. The covers and going back to the years where Alice was at a low point isn't inspirational. Detroit City didn't need a revamp and Road Rats...I don't even know where to start.

Im honestly at the point where I believe he'll remake Holy Water and make it cheesier than before, while still talking about 1971 and how great and glorius the garage eras are for bands.

The Beatles and Stnes are cool, but they had their time.

Well those samples change things. 30 second snippets show a lot of promise. Nice to hear some actual singing going on from Alice.

Alice's vocals sound very harsh and gravely. I think he might have painted himself into a corner with " the road " theme. Nothing stands out but its obviously hard to tell with 30 second clips. Certainly he is raiding past works and there are nods to The Who and The Stones in there. At least Magic Bus is reworked. I think quite a few here will be disappointed.

What sucks is that all the songs seem to sound so similar. Rules of the Road sounds awful, but some of the songs towards the front of the album seem cool. To early to tell obviously, but it already feels like it would have been better off as an EP

Count me out for this one.
Songs that sound the same, a third version of Road Rats, two ballads back to back, and another cover.

Honestly, I'm done with Alice at that point.
Sorry.

13 shades of gray? As others said, sampling the 30 second cuts, nothing particularly stands out from each other. The Road Rats revamb and Dead Don't Dance are the ones I'm interested in. Still have hope for the release.

That version of Road Rats shows how much Alice's voice today has deteriorated.
