Snakes, Guillotines and Ezrin on Keyboards

Post by pitkin88 » Tue Mar 09, 2021 10:11 am

On Dec 25 and Dec 26 the band played the Eastown Theatre in Detroit with Bob Ezrin on keyboards!

Do you remember these two shows and if so?

1) What prompted Bob to play those two shows?
2) How did the band feel about it?
3) Was it the full show or just some songs that needed keyboards Dwight Frye etc
4) How dramatically did it change the sound as Michael would down his guitar for the keyboards at times?
5) Was Bob ever considered as joining the band live?
6) What the hell where you doing playing on Xmas day!

We had polished most of the songs for the upcoming Love it To Death sessions. It was Christmas and Bob was still in town so we talked him into doing those shows.
The band loved it - and so did Bob. We were tight as Hell and the extra keyboards allowed Michael to focus on the guitar parts.
In my memory, Bob played the whole set, but you might be correct in thinking that he joined us half-way through or something. We wanted him to join us for more shows but we were all on the verge of success - us as a band and him as a producer.
As for performing on holidays, working bands do that all the time. This particular show was in our home town so it wasn't like we didn't have a holiday celebration, in fact is was most likely a blow out bash.

Couple of things here...

1. SOMEONE should really invest a few bucks and buy Dennis' book. If you can't find a copy cheap, let me know.

2. HEY - ANDY MICHAEL!!!! I see you lurking. What's up? Any knew info?

No offense Bob but why do you feel you need to hijack a thread. I'm sure Dennis can make up his mind if he wants to answer a question or not. I don't think you have added anything to a question or asked Dennis a question so what gives?

I believe I am not interfering with Dennis answering questions. I did make a suggestion TO YOU, that I thought was reasonable. You seem VERY interested in some historical details concerning DD and the original band...so I suggested that you purchase a copy of his book. Personally, my feeling is that anyone who is as curious as you seem to be about the band's early years, would have read "Snakes...." already.

As for asking Dennis a question, I have other venues to do that. But if one pops into my head for here....I'll ask it.

Others including myself have to wade through your nonsense to read what is actually pertinent on the thread. I could
care less about what you think but would like to read what Dennis says.

I did just ask Si to delete both our posts that are not pertinent to the thread. So agreed.

I appreciate that - thanks guys. I'm here because this is a cool site. Not everyone is as knowledgeable as you. Voicing your opinions is encouraged. That's what makes this fun, and we want people to feel like they're welcome to join in on those conversations.
