Maybe this is a question the glen expert can answer. Was glen flown over for the sessions or the tour? Or both?

Also what was his attitude at that time?

Did he Harbor resentments that he was good enough to rough out a tour but not good enough to play on the album or was he thankful at the chance the band was giving him to continue with the band in at least the touring capacity.

European Tour ends 27th November 1972
Alice (and presumably the rest) fly into Heathrow on December 1st
Recording and press in London early December 1972, where Glen is admitted to hospital.
He's then flown back to Phoenix when he's well enough to travel.

All in the Timelines :)

You are right. I was thinking that was 73 and if course there was no tour in the UK for Billion Dollar Babies.

Why would an award be given for a guitar solo on a very obscure song that had a very limited release? Doesn’t sound credible.

You can always ask Mick. Maybe he is on FB.

I'm guessing it was a NME reader's poll award.

I think you are right. The NME and Sounds were the two big music papers in the Uk.

After giving this track another spin. I think it is much better than a "giveaway".
But, it still didn't fit the style/mood of BDB.
I recall a similar situation that involved an NME Flexi that fell through & got "Hidden Track" status on
The Clash's London Calling album with the song "Train In Vain". That song got tacked onto the Lp after the sleeves went to print.
Both songs are definitely not your typical "B" side or throwaway.
