I'm glad to hear Alice is doing a 50th Anniversary Extravaganza and also glad he is doing it when he decided to do it. I'm sure this was done to slight Old Broom. It will give him fodder to foam at the mouth about.

I'm guessing Alice will play a wide swath of material from the original band and many many of the Dick Wagner classics. I'm also hoping he dips into the early 1980s period as it would be a shame to slight those guys. Mike Pinera was (and still is) one heck of a guitarist!

My ultimate hope would be for him to play songs from the Cooper/Wagner/Ezrin masterpiece "DaDa".

I hope he brings this show to the USA and does some dates with the remaining members of the original band giving them their due. I also hope he can play some sort of video tribute in the background to the legendary Dick Wagner and hopefully get Steve Hunter involved too. Prakash John would also be a plus.

Maybe bring out Davey Johnstone for a few songs and then Pinera. Two incredible talents.

Also, I'm hoping Shep can find it in his heart to find room for an Old Broom to be in attendance.

Can you please stop the name calling. I've already removed one post and will remove more.

Well then that proves its not true. Alice Cooper's first shows in the UK were in 1971....

This definitely is a concerted effort by Shep and Alice to create confusion. I think it part of "A Plan" hatched all those years ago!

It could be that it will be something related to the release of the first AC album. PFY was released in 1969 so it's the 50th anniversary of that, but not the name change or the first UK shows (2 shows is hardly a tour).
It could be argued that is a bigger milestone then the first club show they played under the name. I mean the same band existed under another name the day/week/month before.
Releasing their first album is maybe a bigger deal.

Yes, Si that's what the article said it was a 50th anniversary tour celebrating the release of PFY in the UK. 8 definitely remember it saying that.

Th article author said that, NOT Alice.
"Now, marking 50 years since the release of his debut album ‘Pretties For You’, he’s preparing to visit seven cities the UK in October with his ‘Ol’ Black Eyes Is Back’ tour"

What Alice reportedly said:
“The next show, all the elements are out there – it’s going to be a pure Alice Cooper show. It’s going to have all the stuff that everybody wants to see and new stuff and for the songs, we dip into a bunch of albums that people probably are not going to expect us to go to. So it’s going to be a total Alice extravaganza."

..which is pretty standard Alice hype.

It seems, at this point, that the Coop camp is likely going to let the official "50th" thing slide. I get it.
He's all about being forward thinking, and an anniversary celebration would be looking back. The recent Rhino colored vinyl re-releases are a treat, but they are just that - re-releases. No added tracks, outtakes, etc... That said, School's Out, when it happens, will be a must. I'm betting on yellow vinyl.

"Forward thinking"! Yes, yes. I've heard that Alice mantra for years. A now absent poster on this site use to repeat it all the time when the "reunion question" was broached.
I can't knock that idea, in any business - but I have to question Alice's COMMITMENT to it, RE: the ancient HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRE theme which surely has to be somewhat a glance to the past. Now I hear he is thinking of joining with musicians from the bands' old Detroit days in sculpting an upcoming album. Again....another longing gaze backwards?
So....Mr. Dannorama - is Alice really ''all about being forward thinking''???

Moving forward...but facing backwards. I think that kind of describes Alice career.

Why do you care so much about Alice's career decisions? Did you ever stop to think that his nods to the past with the HV and working with people from the "old Detroit days" are something the HE wishes to do by himself without ANY input from the remaining members of the original band?

I would bet that if Alice once again decides to reunite with the remaining original band members you would regard it as "forward thinking" and not "gazing backwards". Am I right?

You cannot get over the fact that the glory days of the original band and Glen ended in 1974. With Glen, even a year or two before that. That's a hell of a long time ago. Since that time there have been numerous reunions, appearances on albums, co-writing of songs, etc with the remaining original band members. I'm guessing by your logic that all was "gazing backwards".

Alice lives in 2019. You live in 1972. You want to share in the glory of an era that happened nearly 50 years ago. YOU are the one who is stuck in the past. You can't get past the break-up and the success Alice has achieved in the 45 years since then.

Let that sink in Bob. 45 YEARS as a solo artist. 45 YEARS!!

How many years was he a member of the original Alice Cooper Band/Group?

The ups, the downs, the booze, the drugs, and everything else. He has survived and thrived---how---by moving forward. He never dwelled on the past. 45 YEARS as a solo artist---and still going strong. Touring by himself and the HV. Recording albums, making appearances and he has become rock n roll royalty and an American cultural icon.

All of this by moving forward.

Bob, you can live in the past posting photos on your FB page of shadows long past, faded memories and longing for the days that for one thing, you were never a part of in the first place.

This may seem harsh to some, but I'm back on the forum for not even two days, and I've already had enough or Bob's same old crap.

Have a nice day!

Since you asked directly, it seems kinda obvious, dunnit? He relives the past when it's put on him, but he's constantly talking about the future as well. I'm enjoying the ride.

Glad you see that. Thus, Alice USES his past when it suits him....or when he/management sees $$$$. Alice has always had to juggle his past with his future.... That is why there are 8 million posts here about his set list choices.

Every Artist uses their past when it suits them.
And every artists who plays live has fans discussing set lists endlessly and repeatedly.

Metallica, I recently discovered from an official documentary video they posted, actually have a guy on the payroll part of who's job is to take note of every set list and song played.. so they never play the same set list twice in a given same city. That's why their official live clips can list things like "first time ever played in Paris" or "first time played since sept 8th 1987" etc. They themselves keep records of it all.

Hey wavy gravy....when Alice "uses" his past to make money do not the others also make money? Do you have the same problem with it when the original remaining members use their past to join up with Alice and make money? Perhaps you may want to share your thoughts with the other members. Do they share your sentiments? Maybe some of them can post here and rail against it the way you are....as I know you are tight with them in sure you may share the same resentments.
