And rightfully so. I saw the '78 leg of the Lace and Whiskey tour. Of the countless concerts and Alice shows I've attended, it beat them all - hands down.Daggers & Contracts wrote: So much has been said about the L&W tour

I'd donate both kidneys to have been able to see the Special Forces live show. It was the brief period Alice surpassed the energy of the original band. To me that was Alice at his most best and most dangerous. The black and white show on YouTube should be released commercially. That concert should ONLY be released in black and white as it just adds to the greatness of it all. That character is his best incarnation.padre_sliprat wrote:And rightfully so. I will say I give him credit for trying the whole Escargot thing as with a little better timing and calculation it may have worked. If it did, it would have changed the whole evolution of the character and his career.
Re: Alice As Herod
A short article but another favourable review of the show in the 'Metro' newspaper today. NBC reported increased viewing figures and whilst mentioning the key performers remarked that 'Alice Cooper stole the show' with his portray of Kind Herod.
Re: Alice As Herod
Ha Ha I meant King Herod not Kind Herod.....
Re: Alice As Herod
I loved his performance. The way he just walked out and nailed it reminded me of his performance at the Albert hall for the rock foundation gig.
Re: Alice As Herod
This was really great! My Mom had a record of JCS back when and I always liked the song. Coop really did get it down.Devon wrote:Here's video from NBC (I don't know if it's region blocked.)

I was fortunate enough to see this tour and stand roughly five feet away from the stage at a small venue in Youngstown, Ohio. He was, as you said, dangerous as well as beautifully strung-out, menacing, intimidating, and believably subversive instead of "playing the character" as he had done for several years prior. I'd seen him prior to this tour (Madhouse Rock) which was phenomenal and I absolutely love the FTI album, however on the SF tour, he WAS Alice again. I'm happy he got sober and saved his life and family, but I know what you mean when you mention the intensity of him at this point in his career.

Great performance of Alice as Herod.
