Vinyl reissues

Post by dadascot » Fri Oct 13, 2017 3:22 pm

I'm just back from my local HMV where I treated myself to the new vinyl of love it to death, the white vinyl with black splashes looks very cool ! They also had a re-issue of special forces on red vinyl but I couldn't really justify buying that as well. Along with two vinyl copies of paranormal it is getting like the good old days in the vinyl section. I'm going to sell my straight copy of LTD and my uk first pressing and keep the new copy. So, do we like these re-issues? Are we updating? Or is cd and and download better value for money? And which ONE other album would you like re-issued on vinyl? I would go for the last temptation!

The classic 4 ACG albums would be a good start, especially for new fans.

Also all been reissued on vinyl in the last few years. Friday Music being the main label I think.

Oh I agree.
The other issues with these new vinyls is if they are actually mastered FOR vinyl, or simply bad digital transfers to analogue. It's another big issue with the current vinyl reissues by any artist.

That is outrageous. What is the price range for a new album in the UK these days?

Every album from Pretties For You through to Welcome To My Nightmare has been reissued on vinyl in recent years (and in some cases more than once). From The Inside has also had the same treatment but that's it up to Trash with the pleasant exception of the recent Special Forces release. Everything after Trash has also been released vinyl.

Hope that helps :)

You're generally asked to pay about £10 for a CD and £20(ish) for a vinyl.

I got ltd for £20 which was the same price as the blue vinyl re-release of special forces. Killer is selling for £15 but I already have three vinyl copies of that, two with the calendar. The mrs would kill me if I bought another!

I forgot to add that The Alice Cooper Show has also been re-issued, whereas Greatest Hits has not as far as I'm aware.

Thanks for that. My daughter has just got her first stereo and I bought her The Gun Club Fire Of Love $25 and The Pixies Doolittle $28.

SF on red white or blue vinyl - nice touch. For me I just need a bit more value added. Would be tempting if they reissued SF with a second disc of some of the Glasgow FM broadcast or at the very least the For Britain Only EP. As is I have 2 copies of SF, one in excellent condition and the other near mint, so coloured wax isn't quite enough for me to pony up.
