Re: Finally - The Nightmare special official on dvd
The imdb details for Good To See You Again are actually incorrect (not the first time that it's happened). Trust me on this, it was 16mm blown up to 35mm.

From Keith1980:
"Will alice be doing a commentary for this?"
No.

Re: Finally - The Nightmare special official on dvd
I also saw it in LA at the New Beverly Cinema (theater is owned and programmed by Quentin Tarantino and they only show 35mm double features with a few exceptions). They showed WTMN with "Son of Dracula" (Harry Nilsson, Ringo Starr, etc.) of which original "Jump Into the Fire" written and sung by Nilsson was remade on Hollywood Vampires album.VinceLeeRose wrote:I saw a 35mm screening of Welcome to my Nightmare last October in LA. The color was a little faded, but other than that it looked amazing on the big screen. A lot better than the full screen DVD.
Anyway, that was the first time I had seen WTMN on the big screen since it was first released in USA in my area in the 1970's at a local theater in So. California at midnight. I was 16 or 17 with no car or money, so I had to beg my Dad to take me - and he did! No wonder they showed it at midnight. People were drinking, smoking, and treating it like a live concert.
And while the dancing skeletons with their canes was funny - there was a certain bit of choreography that was not the kind of thing you want to see with your Dad.
The print looked really good to me! I hope they show it again.

I have pre-ordered using Si's Amazon US link. Thanks again for this great web site, Si!

Re: Finally - The Nightmare special official on dvd
This is kinda stupid putting the tv show with the concert on one disc. I think they just wanted to take up disc space and had no behind the sceens footag. These people couldnt contact alice to do a commentary or anything??
Re: Finally - The Nightmare special official on dvd
A commentary for the concert movie already exists, as it was on the Rhino version years ago. They either wouldn`t pay to use it, or didn`t even know it exists like Eagle Rock when they released their version a few months after Rhino!Keith1980 wrote:This is kinda stupid putting the tv show with the concert on one disc. A commentary on the tv special would be interesting.

From Si:
"didn`t even know it exists like Eagle Rock when they released their version"
No, it was to be exclusively for the Rhino version.

Maybe so, but when I emailed eaglerock at the time they released it, they said, paraphrasing, "we didn`t know about the Rhino version or a commentary track"A_MichaelUK wrote:From Si:

Yes but even if they did know, they wouldn't have been able to use it.

Re: Finally - The Nightmare special official on dvd
Hey there, could anybody please tell me if the audio commentary by Alice is included on the Welcome To My Nightmare-concert part of this DVD?
I ask this because it has never been part of the WTMN concert-DVD released years ago in Europe (or at least on the version available in germany). I think he did it for the US-version only.
Thanks!

Re: Finally - The Nightmare special official on dvd
Received my copy yesterday. There's a nice little booklet with some promotional pictures, ads, letter from Vincent Price and a good write up on the history of "The Nightmare" and "Welcome to my Nightmare"
"The Nightmare" looks as good as one could hope given the source elements. It's nice to finally have this on DVD.
However, I was VERY disappointed with the "Welcome to my Nightmare" concert film. The image is very blurry (more than the 1999 Rhino version) and it only has a 2.0 surround mix (the Rhino has a 5.1). Given the fact that this concert film was actually shot on film, I was expecting a bit more of an upgrade from the 1999 release. There's also an annoying ghosting/blur when there's any movement. If you have the 1999 disc, I'd recommend keeping it
EDIT: Maybe this is the same exact transfer as the Eagle Rock 1999 DVD. Maybe Rhino owns the rights to their remastered version.

Also the concert film is CUT! It's missing Dept of Youth, despite what it says on the track listing.VinceLeeRose wrote: However, I was VERY disappointed with the "Welcome to my Nightmare" concert film.
