More tracks to hear...

Re: More tracks to hear...
Really difficult to judge based on 30 second samples, but initial thoughts on a few of these songs:
Fallen In Love - I like the bouncy feel of this song. Have a feeling it could turn out to be one of my favourites
Dynamite Road - amazing guitar work, and then it for some reasons starts ripping off The Devil Went Down To Georgia, making it not very good
The Sound of A - This is sounding like the winner so far. Stoked to hear this one in full.
You and All of Your Friends - interestingly, this gave me a huge TEOAC vibe. Felt like a throwback to that album (even though the original band wasn't on it).

To be fair, these are 30 second clips and I need to hear the album in full.
Not so bad as Lace and Whiskey
Paranormal, Paranoiac Personality, Fallen in Love, Private Public Breakdown and The Sound of A sounds great. Genuine American Girl is funny. There are also a couple of interesting songs. Alice like to talk about Killer, but any of his albums since '73 sounded like Killer. This also not...not a big surprise.
I have a paranormal feeling I can not decide how I feel about this album now...I have to hear more.

Re: More tracks to hear...
After hearing these snippets, I am even less thrilled about the album. The ACG tracks are a letdown so far, especially considering that Iiked 2 of the 3 from W2MN. At the end of the day, there is no telling what the other songs sounded like that the guys submitted, and Alice and Ezrin probably chose 2 that they felt fit the album the best. Rats sounds cool though.

I really want to hear Fireball, but I'm pretty disappointed with everything (especially Dynamite Road and Holy Water)
Re: More tracks to hear...
Unfortunately the live tracks are awful Too loud, and overproduced.

I don't hold out much hope for the album, sure they were only 30 second samples but most just sounds totally uninspired.

I am starting to wonder if the metal heads just cant cope with him switching gear and straying from the anvil. Did you hate the ACG collaborations on WTMN2 as well?
They were OK, nothing amazing. When Hell Comes Home was a winner for me tho.

Re: More tracks to hear...
Well, I like most of what I'm hearing. Definitely not at all what I was expecting but I'm totally ok with that. For me, part of what makes a Coop album great is the diversity of the material and this one sounds right along those lines. Sure, there are a few clips that have me scratching my head but I love that he's not just resting on his creative past and cannibalizing old ideas. His voice sound freakin' GREAT.
Re: More tracks to hear...
To me, some of the songs seem to have a different structure then a typical AC album.
It's only 30 seconds, but from what I hear, the lyrical composition seems to be more varied than usual on some tracks, almost like the style of Halo of Flies.
Paranormal seems like the perfect title from what I've heard so far and I'm looking forward to hearing the album in its entirety!

I'm loving these clips. Have me very excited for the album. Some good classic sounding tracks in there. Some heavy ones and even a couple that have an early 80s vibe. Based on what ive heard I have very high hopes.

'The Sound of A' sounds very promising. Shades of Pink Floyd.
The rest is pretty hard to judge on 30 second clips.

Re: More tracks to hear...
I cracked and listened to the longer samples on Spanish Radio last week, but I can't be doing with 30 second snippets so will wait for release day to hear the rest of the tracks in their entirety.
Over the years I've done quite a bit of decision-making for non-Alice tracks based on about 30 seconds of audio (it used to be the way with iTunes) but, having then purchased full albums on CD, I've found that some of my favourite tracks were actually ones that I originally dismissed.

Re: More tracks to hear...
From what we can tell from 30 second samples, I like it. It's not what I expected, but I love the variety, something I feel Alice does more than a lot of artists. Sounds like there is some good playing, catchy, melodic songs and some stuff we haven't heard from him before. Very much looking forward to hearing the whole thing.
Is someone calling me?

Re: More tracks to hear...
I usually listen to the samples, but this time I vow to be good, so I asked my wife to listen to the samples with headphones and give me her feedback in real time. She loves Alice, but she's a harsh critic when it comes to his modern stuff.
She called it leagues ahead of W2MN (her least favorite) - good enough for me. For the record, W1MN is her favorite.

Nights with Alice Cooper indicating that Genuine American Girl will be played soon, followed by the rest of the album.

I think you're right about The Electric Prunes - mix that in with Friday On My Mind (covered by MB on Rock Rolls On) and that's pretty much it.Si wrote:Wish I could remember where they have "stolen" the second section riff (the two repeated notes bit) from as well. It's really bugging me as I've heard it before.

Re: More tracks to hear...
Paranormal has weirdly completely dissapeared from the UK iTunes Store.
Re: More tracks to hear...
Just noticed on Amazon UK you can now buy and download the title track Paranormal!
