Who's the opener?
Who's been opening on the tour so far?
Any idea if the opener will change for the Canadian dates?
Thanks!

Re: Who's the opener?
There hasn't been an opener for any of the (non-festival) U.S. dates.

Re: Who's the opener?
Thanks for the info. I was wondering why I hadn't heard any comments or mentions in the press reviews. That explains it!
A little bit odd, but I'm all for getting right to the main course of the evening.

Re: Who's the opener?
I think many people from many different genres of music would welcome the opener being dropped!

Re: Who's the opener?
It's been great! Rush was the first band I saw that did that. When they started touring again in 2002, they promoted it as "An Evening with Rush," and there was no opener. I had assumed/hoped that would be the case when I saw the name of this tour, and it was/is.

In the case of Rush I don`t believe they have had support bands, at least over here, for much longer then that. I'm pretty sure that when I first saw them in 1982 they didn`t have one.SickThings wrote:It's been great! Rush was the first band I saw that did that. Re: Who's the opener?
That's cool. I know through the '80s, they always had opening acts in the U.S. Blue Oyster Cult opened for them in Nashville in 1983.
I didn't see Rush until 2002, but I wondered if they had opening acts on their '96 tour in the U.S. Those shows were very long shows, too.

Re: Who's the opener?
Naturally, there are Rush sites much like STUK. This page lists all of their tour dates and openers (and when they Rush was the opener):
http://www.2112.net/powerwindows/tours/Tours.htm
1994 was the last tour for which Rush had opening acts.
And I was mistaken. BOC didn't open for them in 1983; it was Fastway. I must have been thinking of the Black and Blue (Sabbath and Oyster Cult) show that my roommate also went to that year.

Re: Who's the opener?
I've never seen Alice on a bill with any other bands. I'd be fine with an opener sometimes, but it seems very rare for him to take another band out on tour with him. I would never go see him open for another band like Motley Crue, because I have no desire to see a truncated Alice show or see a subpar band headlining over Alice.

Re: Who's the opener?
It is true that the last time I saw a band opening for Alice was in 2012. The six shows I've seen since then have had no opener.

Best package I have seen was in Wolverhampton around 2011, I think. Duff McKagan's Loaded and Ugly Kid Joe opened. Fantastic.
