One of his Pre-show rituals is to watch really bad Horror flicks. This fits well in to that category.
I saw it as a fun flick. I wonder if it was meant to be set 10-15 years ago or if they just got a sale on props from that era,

Why? Because this POS movie was made up entirely of losers and has-beens. Danny Bonaduce and that guy who was in the Brady Bunch...really? Guilt by association if you will. If Alice wants to remain relevant as an artist he needs to stay as far away from this type thing as possible. And that goes for some of the commercials he's done too. Why he would want to be lumped in with Richard Simmons and the like I'll never know.SickThings wrote:Why? It it's fun for him, why shouldn't he do them? He's way past the point in his career when any of this stuff could have a negative effect on it.
Hunter
I know he has some fun doing this stuff, I get that, but damn, this thing was just terrible. Shep and Toby need to actually put him in a straight jacket and lock him in a padded cell before he runs in front of a camera for anything else like this.

I believe this would have been a valid argument in the 70s, when Alice started doing the mainstream stuff (Hollywood Squares, golf, hanging with Groucho, Burns, and Benny). However, I agree with Hunter that he has long past the point where it can damage his career or artistic relevance.
I know a lot of people think he will release some lp (with or without other original members) and it will have mass success and/or be adored by the press and Alice will regain his rightful place at the top of all theatrical rock artists.
I don't believe anything will ever make that happen. And not that he doesn't have the ability to release a product that is culturally relevant.
But, as he always says, his act isn't shocking anymore, there is no way it can be.
He is not going to be relevant to modern culture, not in any large way.
Those who see him in stuff like that and write him off, were never going to give him a chance anyway.
Most of the hardcore fans will either laugh along with Alice and be in on the joke, or slightly grimace at the bad product.
If you think about it, isn't this really the same two positions we had here about the auto-tone/vocorder?

Square Wave
And sorry MrD, but I agree with Hunter. Alice can do pretty much anything he wants now in terms of trashy movies, tv, commercials etc and beyond a little uproar when it first happens it won't make any significant dent in his reputation. On the other hand one of these things *could* become really big and successful (it could happen haha) which is only good. Look at Waynes World for example.
You list various things Alice has done, but how many people even remember those now beyond us? And even if they do remember them, that could be said as a good thing as they remember the Coop! And Alice is arguably bigger (slightly) now then he was 10 years ago, or at least at the exact same level. I certainly think he gets more respect now for the public/peers then he did back then.
No harm no foul.
As the above poster said, if this was the 70s, or even the 80s, it could be a different thing.

Re: "Bigfoot" on SyFy (Alice Cameo)
I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions and that's fine. The appearance in Wayne's World was on a completely different level, as was the recent cameo in Dark Shadows. I even thought "Suck" was pretty cool because I enjoy seeing him in projects when he doesn't just play himself.
I just hate it when I see him involved in this type of thing. Which is just my opnion and thats all. It's as if the producers were wondering to themselves , "who all is hard up enough to be in our movie? Ok , we can get Danny Bonaduci, Greg Williams, Howard Hessman and that guy with the makeup and snake , Alice Cooper."
What's next? Dancing With the Stars?
So as my good friend Forrest Gump says..."that's all I have to say about that."

But that's your perception. It isn't a fact.
>What's next? Dancing With the Stars?
He has already appeared on the original British version (or similar format of that programme).

I knew it was just a matter of time before you started picking my posts apart.(good to see you again BTW)
No problem though. I clearly stated that all of this was just my opinion and nothing else. I am entitled to an opinion right? Can I not state my opinion on particular albums or songs as to "good" or "bad" either? Because this album or song is "in fact" good or "in fact" bad. It's all peception. I could say that it seemed to me that "Dirty Diamonds and "Eyes of AC" were phoned in. That's my perception, not a fact. So what's the difference? It was my perception that this whole "Bigfoot" project sucked and I would have personally prefered that Alice had not been involved at all.

HOW is responding the same as "picking" your "posts apart"?! Other people have replied yet I seem not to be allowed to.

Yes and I pointed out that is based on a perception. What is the problem?

Who said you were not?

Did anyone say you could not?

Yes and others made alternative points to the one you raised. Is there a problem?

Re: "Bigfoot" on SyFy (Alice Cameo)
I finally got to watch Bigfoot last night. That was probably the most entertaining thing I've watched since I saw The Avengers! Don't get me wrong, it's atrocious, but that's what made it so entertaining! The CGI Bigfoot was topped by the even worse CGI monument at the end!
And I thought Alice's cameo was hilarious. The whole project was obviously a lark for everyone involved (whether they needed the paycheck or not).

Re: "Bigfoot" on SyFy (Alice Cameo)
Some in the film might need the paycheck...I can't imagine Alice is hard up, so he chose to do it...might have enjoyed..had a laugh etc...for all we know he might earmark the money for a particular use...having seen the various comments I would watch it out of curiosity due to AC involvement...atrocious and entertaining..sounds good to me...talking of atrocious have you seen the latest tom cruise movie..as a rock star...now that takes some beating...if tom can play a rock star, AC can play at being an actor..ha

My sources say David Bowie turned this down because he no longer fits in his Ziggy clothes, LOL!

Think we are still waiting for this in the UK, not seen owt on the SyFy channel yet (and I watch Eureka too NSP ). Hope they don't make us wait too long, all they seem to be showing at the minute is disaster movies (which don't seem particularly sci-fi anyway? haha).

Ha~! Better.
Don't get me wrong. Certainly much better quality than some guy's home taped version. But, really. This is bad.
Love ya, Alice

In terms of the Movie it self yeah. It makes no change there. For what it is I Liked the film. As it was just so so bad.
I just can't stand when someone films the TV screen of a DVR recording or something. Just a lazy factor. something I see far to often on you tube,.
