Love It To Death.
I had discover Alice with the "Ballad Of Dwight Fry" video shoot from the Montreux DVD on Youtube. That's why I select this one to begin.

Flush the fashion...dollar bend...At the time I owned Twisted Sister's "Stay Hungry" on cassette and my brother in-law kept telling me they sounded like Alice...Well when I gave FF a play..uhmmm I will say I didn't hate it..but I couldn't find the comparison my brother in-law was talking about. As time went on an the Alice collection built up..I started to understand what my brother-in law was saying..I was hooked once the release of Constrictor came out.
The road to hell is littered with nice guys with good intentions.

Hhhmmm I think it was B$B on cassette
Re: First Alice Album You Ever Owned
I think I was 14 in 1983, when I asked for anything on cassette of Alice Cooper for Christmas. I ended up getting one and not liking it. I don't remember the title but it was a compilation. It is not listed on the compilations page either. I believe the cover was of Alice in the top hat and with the cane. I remember it had Gutter Cat Vs. The Jets and Street Fight on it. I don't remember much else. Those tracks completely out of context, I just thought Alice was weird at the time.
Odd though, I was still drawn to him because of the things I had heard about the stage show. A few years later, I ended up getting Constrictor and RYFAY, and really liking them. Go figure.

Progressives are scariest thing on the planet.

Greatest hits, my twin brother borrowed it off a mate and hated it, I stole it from him and never gave it back. I remember Desperado was the song that first hooked my into Alice.

Cool stories guys. I've been an Alice fan literally my entire life and when my parents first bought me one of his albums, when I was maybe the age of 2, it was Mascara & Monsters

Re: First Alice Album You Ever Owned
School Days, there were second hand albums in mint condition at this record shop when I was at school 1973 and I got the lady in the shop to reserve them for me and used my dinner money to buy all the albums one at a time and stole my dinner from Woolworths, the things you do as a youth!
I got a shock when I discovered it sounded nothing like the Alice Cooper singles I had bought (including ones from earlier that you could back order) but still love that double album of those first releases, even though It was like it didn't exist once I'd got Love It To Death, Killer, Schools Out and Billion Dollar Babies.
The first 'new album' I bought was Muscle of Love which will always be special to me as not long after that the band was over and it was like the end of the world until Welcome To My Nightmare came out and eventually blew me away, even though it was hard to get into at first being so different to what had gone before.

Yes, I remember being amazed when I got Pretties For You and Easy Action home - can't remember where I got them from now - and they were SO different... I already had SO, LITD and Killer, could hardly believe it was the same bandI got a shock when I discovered it sounded nothing like the Alice Cooper singles I had bought (including ones from earlier that you could back order) but still love that double album of those first releases, even though It was like it didn't exist once I'd got Love It To Death, Killer, Schools Out and Billion Dollar Babies.
