Alice tells Mark Lawson a desire for Nightmare on Broadway!
was out tonight but just watched a recording of the interview.
Excellent hour with quality footage.
The most interesting thing for me was Alice talking about the idea of Welcome To My Nightmare as a Broadway show which i can see happening, even though when asked in 74 would he consider doing a broadway show? he said no.
The lullaby of Broadway becomes a nightmare, can see this being a highlight of Alice's career

It was such a wonderful interview! Good questions, good answers. Really enjoyed it.
Oh I loved his idea that the whole audience would be part of the show. That someone next to you could be an actor and such, moving chairs... Things like that!
He did mention that it would still be a rockshow, so you might like it, even though you hate musicalsmestreech wrote:I hate musicals.

Wonderful interview.
I've never heard The Man talk at such great length before.
This was made even better by a sympathetic interviewer who allowed Alice to talk, and he certainly coaxed out lots of interesting anecdotes.
Great TV!

Now that would be amazing! I was weaned on musicals, still adore them That's what really got me when I first watched WTMN, I felt like I had finally found my ideal performer and still feel like it.
The idea with audience participation has always been one of my favourite. I recall a play at school where the actors were playing in the hall among us kids, it felt like being in a dream. Or later when I saw excerpt of "Hair" being played at a local theatre and the actors came into the hall and everyone sang along.

I went to see 'Lord of The Rings' the musical ( ) and at one point an Orc stormed thru the door next to me (I was up in the Gods at the end of a row) and shrieked right into my face - it was very funny

I have mentioned this before but there has been an Alice Cooper musical called 'Original Sin' that had one performance in Leeds and it was really good.
Nightmare on Broadway wouldn't be your average musical as has been pointed out Alice said he wanted it to rock.
He did say he thinks he would be about 70 before it happened and his role could be played later on by someone else, like all great characters Alice Cooper is timeless just as Dracula or Frankenstein are.

Did I imagine it or did Mark say that the lyrics of Poison had the line - I wanna kiss you but your'e next of kin?
I had to go check out the lyrics to be sure I hadn't miss heard something all these years!

I thought I was hearing things!
Re: Alice tells Mark Lawson a desire for Nightmare on Broadw
Now I cant remember where I read this but one of the reasons for not doing a broadway musical around 74 was given as security concerns...the hysteria surrounding Alice was massive,,if it was in uk I'd pay 50 sheets to see a well produced show re Alice( I would have dreaded this 20 yrs ago)..be amazing what the critics would say as back in mid seventies he was accused of being a parody of Alice..so what would it be if someone else played Him..bring it on

Re: Alice tells Mark Lawson a desire for Nightmare on Broadw
he told Paul Gambaccini in 74 (broadcast on BBC Radio 1) when asked would he consider doing a Broadway show that it wasnt feasible and that what they were doing now was a travelling Broadway show, so it didnt need to be on Broadway.
