Re: Alice Cooper Old School Boxset
I just noticed that the box set is sold out (almost) everywhere!
I'm searching for a picture of the Killer Live CD cover: does someone have one?

Re: Alice Cooper Old School Boxset
Do you guys think we're going to get a boxset or at least a cd of rarities from say, the last 2-3 decades?
You got the picnic, I got the ants.
Re: Alice Cooper Old School Boxset
You mean like The Life And Crimes of Alice Cooper. I think that covers just about all of them.
Anything more current can be found online or on the diffrent. Bonus discs.
When then get enough maybe. But being many span mutiple labels it would be hard to do.

I don't know, where are the outtakes from Trash, Hey Stoopid, Last Temptation, Brutal Planet, Dragontown, The Eyes, Dirty Diamonds, ACAS (it was supposed to be a double album!) and W2MN? The demos recorded with Joe Perry in the early 80s? I'm sure there are a lot of songs that could be released.homerx wrote:You mean like The Life And Crimes of Alice Cooper. It would be a question of does one of the many labels in the past 20 yrs have enough content for a collection. how many were reworked into new songs,
I would be all for a collection if theres enough for it
Looks like Epic for quite some time though. so maybe
Life And crimes 2?

There probably are quite a few things that *could* be released from more recent years. But you have to remember that if they are studio quality there was probably a good reason (at least at the time) that they weren`t released.unafraid wrote: I don't know, where are the outtakes from Trash, Hey Stoopid, Last Temptation, Brutal Planet, Dragontown, The Eyes, Dirty Diamonds, ACAS (it was supposed to be a double album!) and W2MN? Demos are slightly different as they were never intended for release, but just rough recordings to see how things sounded.
I agree it would be wonderful to have a big box set of unreleased songs and demos, but at the end of the day these are ALL things not deemed worthy of being heard by the public, as well as things that a relatively small number of people are interested in (ie US!).
This is why when such things do surface, they are often as 'b'sides' or bonus tracks to reissues etc. They give us something extra to get us to buy the stuff again.
I do agree that a limited edition release of some of this stuff would be great, and it may even happen one dy, but unfortunatly I'm not holding my breath. Maybe in this age of downloads etc it is actually easier for them to do something through AC.com where we could buy such things on a track by track basis direct from them, cutting out some of the middlemen and manufacturing costs (making it profitable), but then people would complain they didn`t have the physical product in their hands. I'm sure there are ways to do it if they decide they want to though.

Re: Alice Cooper Old School Boxset
Look at R.E.M. They're reissuing all their albums when they celebrate their 25th anniversary. 2nd cd for the first 2 albums were live shows, but for the next 2, we got full cds of demos (14 & 19 respectively!), including never before heard songs. That's something that could be considered (anniversary albums with bonus material).
Also, when songs aren't released, it doesn't mean they were automatically not good enough. Far from that. Sometimes it just means there were too many songs of the same tempo/style/theme to chose from, or just too many. Heck, the Weezer guys could probably retire now and still be able to release a quality album a year for the next 25 years if they wanted to, they have tons and tons of good demos collecting dust. For Permanent Vacation, Pump and Get A Grip, Aerosmith had tons of great songs to choose from, just comes a point where you have to decide what's going to be sacrificed. GAG could have easily been a solid double album. Actually, some of those songs are getting rerecorded for the new album. Anything is possible.

Alice has said before though that they rarely leave recorded material off an album. I honestly don't think there's such a treasure trove of material as you'd like to imagine.

Re: Alice Cooper Old School Boxset
Was did he say twice (for Dirty Diamonds and ACAS) that he had enough material to record a double album? Plus, check this site's list of unreleased songs. That's probably just the tip of the iceberg. While Heaven Wept wrote:Alice has said before though that they rarely leave recorded material off an album. That doesn't necessarily mean all that material was recorded.

Re: Alice Cooper Old School Boxset
You can bet it was at least demoed, which is more than enough since modern day demos usually sound like live in studio tracks.

That is absolutely incorrect. Try not to make definitive statements about matters when all you are doing is guessing.

I think you guys are either completely ignorant or completely naive about the recording process.

Which one of us (between you and I) has access the the list (maintained by Alice's former archivist) of songs written for each album since 1978 or so and for which demonstration recordings exist or not?
