I Am Made of You... without auto-tune?
Am I the only one who's hoping for a release of I Am Made of You without the auto-tune effect? As a b-side to the next single (if there's such a thing) or a bonus track on some re-release of the album? I don't mind it, but I think would be even better without it.
You got the picnic, I got the ants.
Re: I Am Made of You... without auto-tune?
I dont get the trouble the autotune means for some of us, like you.
I like it actually.

Why stop there? I reckon we should ask The Eagles to re-release all their singles without those pesky harmonies.alicespoisonuk wrote:It's Ok with but I'd like to hear it without. Not overkeen on anything with auto tune.

And how about getting rid of that annoying harmonica on Neil Young's 'Heart Of Gold'?
The autotune is a fundamental part of the song so i think the answer to your question is no.

That didn't stop Alice from releasing the following:
Salvation (Unplugged With String Section)
Alternate versions, tons of bands do that dude.

That's a matter of opinion, but it doesn't stop me being right.unafraid wrote:

And if we're talking about stupidity, you should try re-wording that statement.

And so i'm sure you can tell me what the fundamental elements of that song were?
True, but my point was that they are unlikely to change the 'fundamental' element of this song! Alice has already stated that the autotune effect was a purposeful move.unafraid wrote: Alternate versions, tons of bands do that dude.

Re: I Am Made of You... without auto-tune?
The only fundamental element to a vocal song is the lyrics. The song can be sung with or without autotune. It can also be sung with or without background music. It can be sung with or without the original singer. A song cannot be however without the lyrics.
I for one think autotune detracts from the song, and if any cover band ever sings this song, it will be just as powerful without the autotune, because the lyrics make the song powerful.

^This.
For sure an alternate version of that song exists somewhere. Rough mix without autotune, demo, alternate take, whatever. I want to hear it.
Who knows, Alice might pull another "Alice Does Alice" later with a new version of that song.

Re: I Am Made of You... without auto-tune?
I was a bit hesitant about autotune because whenever I've heard it used before I've always found it really annoying. But in this song, I think it works really well, and it's not overdone. Definitely one of my favourite tracks on the album.

Re: I Am Made of You... without auto-tune?
I find it to be just as annoying as it is on any other song, but the song itself is very good. A masterpiece besides that one issue to me.
Re: I Am Made of You... without auto-tune?
We all know Alice is a great vocalist so I just view Autotune on the track as an effect to enhance the atmosphere of the song. When Autotune becomes annoying is when it is so overused on umpteen dance tracks because I suspect it covers the deficiencies and lack of tone in the vocals of many artists of the dance music genre. In my opinion if no one had heard autotune before and this track was the first time it had ever been used (but I believe that honour goes to Cher -at least thats when I first heard it)then I think we would be blown away by the sound of the vocal on the track.

Exactly. For about the hundredth, it was used for a specific purpose. Of course, the track can exist without it, but then it wouldn't be what Alice and Bob wanted. Maybe the bell from "School's Out" should be removed as well.

I completely agree, I think the auto-tune works perfectly for the song. It never comes across as Alice using it to make his voice sound any better, thats not why it was used for. I still can't explain the chills I got while listening to this one for the 1st time. What a great song!!

I like the song with auto-tune, it gives it a very unique and interesting sound. If any rough cut/demo/alternate/whatever version without auto-tune were ever made available, though, I would definitely be interested in hearing it.

I was just kidding, I respect the fact that people like him I just really can't stand his voice.mestreech wrote:Neil Young is also one of my favorite artists.hallowedbemyname wrote:How about we just get rid of Neil YoungWhile Heaven Wept wrote:And how about getting rid of that annoying harmonica on Neil Young's 'Heart Of Gold'?

I think it slightly detracts from the atmosphere he's trying to create. Regardless of what he thinks, he didn't have to do it. Sounds a bit like Weird Al meets Cher to me.Robbie wrote:We all know Alice is a great vocalist so I just view Autotune on the track as an effect to enhance the atmosphere of the song.

From the Alice Cooper Facebook page (assuming from his assistant.)
"""It's a square wave effect. Auto tune doesn't sound like that. The effect has been around for decades. Alice put it there for a reason, to make you uncomfortable. It's Alice slipping back into the NIGHTMARE."""
So auto tune actually isn't used at all apparently.

Yep, I said in another thread that it is more if a vocoder effect rather than autotune.Devon wrote:From the Alice Cooper Facebook page (assuming from his assistant.)
